when there were still piles of unboxed devkits piling up...

‘couple of people asked in the comments if all guildford-game-dev offices are the same cubicle-free, bland white-walls-and-blue-carpet setup… well, it certainly seems that way :) but when we first started MM, we were working out of 3 small rooms. we decided to paint them pink, yellow, and blue to try to take the edge off the otherwise boring environment. the pink room used to be our board room (now kitchen :)), the blue room the main dev office (now a chill out area, seen here), and the yellow room was sort of overflow (now, QA). You can see how it looked back in february, with piles of recently delivered, as yet un-unboxed devkits filling most of the room. Eventually we acquired a larger, more ‘boring’ space next door - which is what you see in the timelapse video.

Woo, colour-coded offices. Sounds like a great idea to me.

Thanks for the inside view. I was wondering where the colourful walls had gone

Its always funny to know that even something big as MM is just a small office :p
How the hell do you start something like that…
its maybe like:” hey lets make a game…, get 4 rooms :D”

Guys keep up the good work …
I hope there is a demo soon, but it’s always better to have a working game without lots of bugs…

“Wall of love” :3 A development team sure needs one such indeed. =D Well, that and cardboard boxes… just to feel at home. XD

I’m suprised that you didnt show ous a wall with a life size picture of a Sackboy _O-

ThE_OwNeR | June 9th

Is that a coffee mug placed on top of a dev kit box marked “Fragile - handle with care”? :D

How can you afford that big an office with so many employees? (You will surely earn everything back when the game is released)

Og, btw, I want LBP to be bundled with a white PS3 in Europe! or maybe sackboy skin…

Where is the next blog update?
:) i want some news :D

tokke | June 15th

Don’t you get it!? JD GW and the patriots have seized control of MM. Sackboy is planning an insurrection. Will you TERMINATE Sackboy?! NANOMACHINES! AI! BROTHER!

Dear god. I hope LBP isn’t this complicated.

That would be amazing… A massive graphic picture of sackboi where u could stick post- its and notes. I mean im sure ur spending most time on making the game but that would be pretty cool

We had the same problem in our office. Even more so actually because we don’t own them, or have permission to paint them. So we went nuts with some vinyl!

Looks ace! Makes me want to buy a house of my own so that I can do crazy things to it!

i want a demo soo bad! even if there isn’t much to it! the game just keeps growing and getting better and better with so much stuff.

Q U E S T I O N T I M E:

Ok, so we know that we’ll be able to create private levels and give out keys to specific people, so they can access the level. But will they also be able to edit the level and upload it again? I’m a member of the British community ‘Old Age Playstationers’ (oaps.org), and it would be cool if we could make an OAP level and have every OAP member create stuff in it.

Red, blue and Orange…so good!!!

I’m wait for the next blog’s update XD

Ameba20 | June 25th

you could update the blog… you didn`t` do that in a while :(

@seipey:

well dude… :) that hard… depends on wich country you live.
For example: i am from belgium, my passion and hobby’s are programming… but i will never go to school for that… because, in belgium there is no future for it. No game design future :’(…
i would love to program for a company, develope games/programs… but i simply can’t.

If you live in a country like England :) well then, go study something wiht alot of C, C++, java, database stuff, and where you can get at the same time soms digital art :) hehe

good luck on finding some :)

ps: teach me if you can :p hehe

btw: MM keep up the good work AND THE BLOGS :D

To ameba20

leave them alone cant you see that they are to bizzy with production of the game so calm down they can do it when they have the time as for all the team at Media Molecule keep up the fantastic work.

p.s sorry for any badly spelled words im dislexic :p

LBP rocks | July 11th

Well guys it’s nice to see LBP progressing well (E3 trailers)

Also I can see you guys don’t operate a clear desk policy :P

@ Seipey - C/C++ is a great start in programming for gaming, Java has its similarities to these but Java tends to be used mostly for application development (web apps etc) but its also used for Mobile phone apps/games. (I work as an App Analyst (Java/J2EE))

*cough*demo/open beta*cough*

Let me know when you announce the SackBoy plushie with the collectors edition and I will be all over that like a fly on sh- sugar
