Welcome to the beta!

danny and dave try the public beta for the first time

A super exciting thing happened today! The beta trial went live to thousands of people, mainly via eurogamer.net. In fact, I believe you all briefly brought down their site! WOWZERS! At the moment the feeling in the office is somewhere between unbounded excitement and mild panic – personally I think I’m losing my mind (in a good way!) Had to bash out a few songs on our newly acquired office copy of rockband just to de-stress while the beta downloaded in the background! just had our first few playthroughs with some of you people and with some of the levels that have been published.

What AMAZES me is how good the first ’sketches’ of levels are. it took our testers at least a few weeks of heavy create before incredible levels started appearing. and now something cool for you all to think about: you’ve only seen the first 3 levels :) Remember, this is a *beta* to test our servers, NOT a demo. Can’t stress that enough! So, what’s is so cool for us to see, is that you haven’t even seen the amazing story mode yet, which serves as inspiration, and yet the levels going up are already interesting. I can’t wait to see what y’all do when you see the full game, and start cranking out levels.

Also, since it’s a beta, it’s already quite an old build. We have some cool new stuff that’s been in our private test for a few days, I won’t give it all away but there are things cooking such as 5-star ratings, (much) better performance and less lagginess, better online stability, better UI for publishing, faster downloads…. so in a way playing this version is simultaneously exciting and an odd throwback to a couple of weeks ago.

Finally, to everyone who has supported the game, played the game, left comments, posted levels, and really got into the spirit of LBP, understood it, and well, enjoyed it, it makes me incredibly proud! Thanks for all comments and constructive feedback, we’re listening and we already have *stacks* of stuff lined up for the beta, and the full release. If you liked the first 3 story levels, the other 50 odd levels are going to blow you away :) HOORAY! I AM SO EXCITED!

ok I’ll stop now.

FINALLY PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ABOUT BETA KEYS:

PS sorry but beta keys and their distribution are actually entirely in the hands of Sony. MM have no control over this, so we can’t help if anyone wants to get on the beta trial, I am certain (100%) there are more keys coming SOON but we’d recommend checking the playstation forums and all the usual places for news. In fact, even MM hasn’t received our own full set of keys yet – we’ve only got about 10 between us all so far! (ok so we can play the game anyway, but, y’know, in case it makes you feel better!)

Spread the word:

It doesn’t make us feel better ! (although one of the beta keys you don’t need would :p)

Anyway, less than a month before grabbing the full game :)

Derek | September 23rd

Alright thanks for the info

btw try to waive the 17+ rule

Shahzeb | September 23rd

YAY, first comment!

Your words though kind can not mend a broken heart…

Perfectnumpty | September 23rd

Thanks for the note guys…..still pretty sad I didn’t get a beta key though….good thing I paid off my preorder or I’d be near suicide.

p.s. i got on the beta whooooooo.
p.p.s.do we have to e-mail anyone with any feed back or do we just have fun?

HICMAN | September 23rd

Damn, found out so late.
Oh well, still.. any news for Australia about kratos/nariko sack costumes, or should I just go ahead and pre order now?
Cant wait for the full release.
Thumbs up for going gold, and pushing the release forward.

Quarter | September 23rd

You are probably aware of most (if not all) of this issues, but hey. It can’t hurt!

When you slap someone it seems like there can only be one “fall” animation playing at the time, so if someone else is slapped they will freeze until the previous animation has been played.

I joined a 4 player game of the “Tie-jumping” level. After some horrible tries the 2 other persons disconnected/dropped so it was only me and my friend left. We managed to get a pretty good score BUT it got registered as a 4-player score :)

You should be able to skip the tutorials in create mode (maybe you can?)

In race maps (online) the camera should not focus on the other players. Not totally anyways. Pretty much defeats the purpose of racing.

I got stuck several times at the end of a level while playing online with the option to return to my pod stroked (probably fixed)

My thoughts!

Alex (PSN: illojal) | September 24th

Im really gutted to have missed an opportunity to get into the beta. Id only been checking this blog for news as you said in an earlier post that this would be the first place to hear about getting into the beta, so i hadnt been paying attention to any other site and missed the eurogamer key giveaway =[
oh well, ill probably just have to wait until its release to get my hands on this awesome game.

Encryption | September 24th

To the Guys and Gals at Mm, I salute you.. I managed to blag a Beta key from the ‘Hit F5′ night at Eurogamer and my word you guys have done a fantastic job! I was transfixed with the game and giggly like a child and my wife fell in love with Sack Boy!

LBP is by far the most inventive and fun game I’ve played in years, and I have only just begun to touch on the ‘create’ side of things.

My hat is off to you all, and btw getting Stephen Fry in was a touch of genius!

Can’t wait to get my hands on the full game when it’s released…

:)

I spent 2 hours to get my grubby mits on a beta key as there servers were a bit pete tong, was worth every second! Lbp is just pure genius, i love everything about it and have only seen the first few tutorials, Mr Fry was a perfect choice for voice actor he fits in sooo well and sounds great! eveything iv seen so far is just stunning, mad respect to you guys!

gbh08 | September 24th

I don’t like that people are playing the game and I’m not. I’m so selfish!

What the hell didnt sony say they wher going to anounce how the beta keys wer going to be relased ahead of time. from what i can see eurogamer just said we will be giving out 5800 keys here come and get them NOW. no warning here or did i miss that.

SilentxMonkey | September 24th

HICMAN what are u talking about they didn’t push the release forward its still oct 21st of 08 , if u mean the oct 14 or better known as 10/14/2008 , thats just a Strategy Guide , not the game as some people are posting <_<

Hasted | September 24th

Hate to say I am disappointed, but I guess you all had no control over it… so can’t really help that.

I hope there will be more keys soon… hopefully a bit more accessible since nearly all of Australia would have been asleep at the time they were released… If not, only one more month I guess :D

awe this makes me sad..does anyone know if there will be a American release beta?

nintendoXO | September 24th

You guys at MM should make an application that will allow consumers or fans of the game to make levels on their PC just for fun. I’m assuming it will be quite difficult to incorperate levels made on PC into the game on PS3, if you were to consider doing that. Anyway, it is just a thought. I would of loved to be in the beta but I don’t have a PS3, I probably would of played on my friends one.

Look forward to playing the game and creating my own levels.

When is LBP2 out then? ;) lol

Jeez just make a public demo…the game is gold so its not really a beta.

I managed to get into the beta, and it’s great. I’m working on perfecting a catapult right now. :)

Lag is very concerning… glad you had a beta! :D
(Get faster/dedicated servers please)

I didn’t get the key :( oh god I’m gonna kill myself…

badluck | September 24th

A quick question about the Beta, how can i delete the PlayStation Eye pictures in “My pictures” menu? i delete it from the in game pod but still there…

BillyJoe | September 24th

LOVING the beta SO MUCH! this is what i call fun :D

One thing is can you guys change the Virtual Keyboard to the full size one? i don’t like the mobile tap style keyboard.

and yeah. lag is killer unlesss i play with someone in my area. will the online by game release and keep that global online play right? =)

suki vee | September 24th

Damnit, i was signing up to all the sites about little big planet, except for the euro gamer one…i wish they gave us a little heads up or something here in australia…plus, some one said that the beta will be a public release for everyone to play…sigh…

(shoots self in face)

Got my Beta key last night too, if this is an old build i can’t wait for the full version! great going guys. I spent 3 hours on it last night and didnt even touch create mode and i think i’ll be ‘busy’ in work all day planning my first level! Thanks again Alex and the team. :-)

Quick feedback for you:

1) Absolutely adore the game! Playing new user-created levels will never get old. Same goes with creating my own. Like spore, it’s deep yet accessible. Love it!

2) Will the retail game run at a higher resolution with higher AA?

3) The character movement is acceptable but still clunky. I feel like many people are fighting with it. I am curious if there could be an option to tweak character physics (running speed, acceleration, jump height, jump accelration) in the retail game – or if it could be added later on? The game has a very slow pace, which suits the puzzle-ish levels, but platforming doesn’t feel tight.

Explaination: Jumping is too slow. I’d like it better if sackboy reached the apex of his jump faster. I’d also like to see a quicker running speed and acceleration as well as some inertia (a la super mario world) when turning the opposite way.

4) That’s it. I adore everything else. Congratulations, you’ve made an instant classic and one of the more important games in the history of the industry. I hope you guys are proud and I can’t wait to see what you all do in the future!

P.S. The artists working with you guys are insanely talented.

kiniro | September 24th

yo MM,
small issue with level 3, i’ve heard those without sixaxis controllers (3rd party im guessing) can’t shake (yer that was lame) jetpacks.. any tips..?

Great to hear so many positives from those who have gotten in!

I’ll hold back till the 24th for a try, give all those dying to get in the beta a chance. I’m really wanting a game that will keep things off my mind.. And LittleBigPlanet is first to release, so I’ll be jamming it out as often as I can!

this makes me sad, ive been waiting for the game since may 2007 and yesterday i was waiting for about 2 hours trying to get a key :( but i did not get one. Thabkfully the game is coming out soon anyway so it is not that bad :)

when will the demo come out thats what i wanna KNOW!!! (cus i bet i won’t get into the beta lol) well you can’t have everything but anyway i’m goin to manchester this weekend
xD xD xD xD xD xD xD

so i suppsose that one reason why i’m not botherd!

LBP fan

xeonnyle | September 24th

HEYY! exactly 1 month!!! how long have i been waiting!!!
lol i didn’t post any comments on this site a while back cus i thought some one would do somethhing to my psn account or somthing (so i couldn’t play the game)…
HOW PARARANOID WAS I????

xeonnyle | September 24th

Hasted wtf are you talking about

HICMAN | September 24th

refresh after refresh got abit annoying when my mate says mines loaded n i was still un able to load the page so no beta key for me :( reli hope i get one from the next lot of keys as u say more SOON but i bet it wont stop the ppl that were grabbing 2 or 3 grabbing another n stoppping me having a go :(

First of all:

_O_ Media Molecule _O_

What a FANTASTIC game! Absolutly loved the intro!!!

I do found a bug/glitch: You can jump behind a scoreboard but when you do that, you jump right throught it :) And there was a point in the game were you had to hold on a bird that would go up if you grabbed it. If you go to much to the left, you’ll get stuck on a ledge and you cant get out…

It’s incredible! Well done guys and gals. I noticed a few of the things you mentioned (such as a bit of lag) but I’m glad to hear these have already been fixed. Today was one of those days where I wanted so badly to be sick and not have to go to work. Still, it’ll be waiting for me when I get home. Can’t wait to play more.

I will make sure to keep an eye out for the other beta keys, because yesterday, I spent hours trying to get onto eurogamer, register an account, then get back to the beta keys screen, and after pressing F5 a million times, i finally got to the screen only to find they were all gone T_T

Alas, although I am not on the beta, I hope it goes well for everyone, and i hope it proves useful for you Media Molecule. I guess i’ll just have to wait 31 more days xD.

Alex (PSN:Arekkz) | September 24th

Love the game guys. Spent ages playing around in the levels before I got my hands on the create mode. Check out the “Bazmobile” on my level, Bazmobile. Not a level as such, more an empty road to test the Bazmobile. DO NOT PUSH THE RED BUTTON!!

Baz_the_great | September 24th

Congrats to those who got in the beta this round, Im preparing for Round two 8-)

Kenneth | September 24th

I was 2 hours in the page and I didn`t win mi code :(

boss ghost | September 24th

Just one small bug in this beta release: LBP doesn’t seem to be able to tell the difference between a SixAxis and the official Sony PS3 Remote Control, and therefore hangs at the start screen waiting for “Player 7″ to sign in. I had to manually disconnect the remote control via the PS3 button in order to continue playing, which is pretty annoying and doesn’t happen in any other game.

Steps to repr. the problem:

1. Switch PS3 on via official Sony PS3 remote control
2. Press PS3 button on SixAxis controller to connect it
3. Start LBP beta
4. LBP asks you to choose a login for “Player 7″ (with a choice of “Guest” or any of the other logins you might have on your system). The problem with this is that it is not possible to play the game with this particular controller (the PS3 remote control).

Steps to fix:

1. Hold down PS3 button on PS3 remote control
2. Choose “switch off controller”
3. Quit LBP and relaunch from XMB.

Its so unfair !=[
I’ve waited like 1 year to play this game
And yesterday my parents were going to a shop and my uncle and i must go with them .. So i dont have an Code ! Its so unfair =[ But it doesnt have to be a Demo because there will always be updates or other things ..

I had the same problem as boss ghost, just with my buzz! usb dongle.

I ask for “player 2″, and i can’t continue befor i take the USB dongle out.

An idea to fix this could be to make a player push the start button befor detecting it.

But i must say its an awsome game, and i am look forward to the final release.
Thank You MM

To bad i’m not playing the beta would have really wanted to b in on that. But still it’s even better to hear that the game is working great.

Bring on the full version.

And MM great work you guys(keep it up).

Mad J | September 24th

Hi MM,

First of all the game is awesome and you should all be fantastically proud… Stephen Fry was the best choice for narrating…

but sadly I must bring this whole post down :(

because I went round to my friends house and logged in with my psn/user to download and show him the beta… I tried to open the beta on my own ps3 this morning to receive Error Code 80029752 – which basically means I now cant access the beta because of showing it to my friend :(

I spent 1.5 hours punishing the Eurogamer servers for the chance to try this out and I’m a little upset that now I cant get back into the game to try the create mode and see if I can make such a good level it gets left up for when the game gets fully released and has gone live…

If there is anything you can do to help I will hugely appreciate it… my PSN id is the name I’ve used here and the website link is to the playstation LBP forum where I’ve posted this story…

I just hope you and/or Sony can help :(

Cheers

Andy D
TheRook21
Has a Beta but now cant use it :(

Do you happen to know what’s going on with sharing the beta? Is it locked as GT5 Prologue and Warhawk, or as some say it can be played by two different accounts?

Thanks and great job (or at least that’s what everybody is saying!

megateto | September 24th

I feel like I’m dying, every day I go without playing this game. Playing other games just makes the pain worse.

AkachanNingen | September 24th

hey, find my fishtank man. and reach for the bubbles hanging under it by stepping on the button haha. COMPLICATED STUFF!!!

BasketSnake | September 24th

You guys need to check out the NeoGaf thread about the LBP Beta, it’s quite amazing to see how much everyone loves the game so far and the tears of jealously from al the people who couldn’t get any of the beta keys lol.

Seriously guys… WOW. Been waiting since GDC07 for LBP when I first fell in love with it and I’ve not been this blown away by a game for quite some time. This was the one game that made me buy a PS3 at launch and it’s been the game that has made me keep my PS3 when I spend the majority of my gaming time on the 360. After 45mins of F5ing Eurogamer last night I managed to get a key and get the beta downloaded (case sensitive download keys = retarded). I was up until 2am playing it and just falling more and more in love with it. I’m a cynical bastard gamer these days and not much really captures my heart any more but the charm of LBP has got me. You can tell a great game when even when you are not in front of the TV playing it, you are still playing it in your head.

Thank you so much for letting us get our hands on the beta and allowing us to contribute to the community ahead of launch. I’m spending far to much time at work thinking about level ideas and sketching them out on post-it notes.

Oh and just a little aside, if anyone at MM reads these, I just want to say a hiya to Mark. Quite some time ago I was at Lionhead for a week as temporary tester on Black and White and remember having great fun and how nice everyone was.

Managed to get a eurogamer beta code last night and I’ve only played through the three levels, hopefully will get a chance to get some level designing done tonight. But from the moment I loaded LBP to when I had to turn off my ps3 (the girlfriend wanted to watch some rubbish on TV) I was blown away, I truly have never played something so Charming and enjoyable.

Just a big thank you to everyone a media molecule! I’m looking forward to the final product that much, I’ve just booked the day off work! :)

monkeypirate | September 24th

on the popit its got a heart, how do i add things to it?, please its driving me crazy lol

ghb08 | September 24th

I am still annoyed at how the beta keys were given out seeing as most of the people are American and not infact from europe, just letting you know how most of us feel and that’s pretty cheated.

Anyway looks great.

Dominic | September 24th

The demo is *mind blowing*.

A massive congratulations, the game deserves all the recognition and huge sales that it will receive at launch and well in to the future…

Simply brilliant.

@megateto

I downloaded the beta on my friends PS3 to show him it… I tried to load the game this morning and I got an error which is caused because it was put onto another ps3. The information (when you press trianle)on the beta says it can be used by another account as long as the account/password that got the software is still present on the system…

But that isn’t true as I’ve been locked out… trying to get it sorted tho but I’m afraid I might not be able to get back in and create/upload stuff… I can still help others on the LBP playstation forum tho… :S

Damn! I just found out about this. I wish I didn’t have to leave on a two week trip away from my PS3 (Left 22). Does anyone know when the beta will end?

I also got a eurogamer.net beta key yesterday. it’s lovely from sound to grafics. control is kind of hairy at first but after getting used to its ok. object clipping is kind of ugly but I think its not possible to avoid.

what I was really shocked was the framerate – thank god my sony X3500 has a good 100hz mode and cleans up that mess but otherwise it wouldn’t be even playable for me – is has judder as hell, as soon as it moves everything get mashed! :-(

I’m so sad :’(… SCEE gave more then 5000 keys to EUROgamer and half of them was taken by americans. I’m from Denmark in Europe and I didn’t get one :( .
I couldn’t sleep last time… I was thinking of the key I didn’t get.

Anders | September 24th

Hi, I tried the LBP beta yesterday, and i must say…. It’s GREAT! it takes some time to get used to the control like switching 2D/3D kinda. I think you cant play this game without having a smile on your face. I didnt play enough to say more tho, im gonna try it more today. Awesome game, thanks oh and i wanted to ask, will there be tougher level in the final game? not that its not tough enough but i would enjoy some really difficult level too.

Daver | September 24th

Euro wha? Awww. I completely missed out! Oh well, I’m sure the people who ‘happened’ to be there at the right time “F5ing” it deserve it ;)

I think it will be OK, though. Like NecronomiconUK, this is the reason I bought a PS3, and like monkeypirate, I took off of work the day it comes out to play it. With my pre-order in hand, I’ll be ready to go when that day finally comes! Then again, maybe Sony will be all like “Who else should we give beta keys to? How about those people that posted comments on the MM blog!” – Eh? EH?? ;)

I hope when I do get to play I’ll be able to create interesting and enjoyable levels. But I guess more importantly, I can’t wait to see what others come up with. Some of the ideas from MM have been awesome (from what I’ve seen) so far. There seems to be so much potential. I used to LOVE The Incredible Machine when I was younger, so I have hope for myself :)

Cheers guys!

senocular | September 24th

I would love to have gotten in on the beta but was victim of the server crash.
If Sony provided you guys with 10 keys but you do not need them, feel free to send me one :-)

Wauslee | September 24th

Hi there !

I’m one of the lucky few who got a beta key from jeuxvideo.com (french website).

I played 1h this morning and I love the game ! Congrate gentlemen !

However, since it’s a beta, I have to report some bugs I found :
- They are some “colision” bug. I mean when something goes INTO something else just like it’d be transparent. For example, I was playing with rabbit ears and sometimes they pass through a wall or a block instead of “touching” it.
- The biggest problem I found is that the mauability of the Sackboy doesn’t feel natural to me. I mean especially when you want to go to the back or the front of the screen. I found it difficult to do it quickly and felt it requieres to move the stick AND hit the jump button, while not running. In several case, I found “stuck” in a level of a multi-level part of a “hill” and not being able to catch all the blue balls quick enough.

I hope I’m being understood as I’m not really used to explain such things in english (I’m french)…
Feel free to contact me if you want a drawing ;-)

Thanks anyway for this great game again !

sounds SO awesome, can u please let us know how we can try and get a key in the next few days/weeks….

iv been trying for over 12 hours and gotten NOTHING… the game looks AMAZING and i really wanna play the beta :)

thnx

rocky212 | September 24th

NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!111
How the heck do I get into this beta!!!!11

I already am practicing what I like to call “skipping”. The controls are so floaty it feels like you’re a rock that someone’s thrown that’s skipping across water. Gently pushing the jump button while running. Feels keeewl.

BasketSnake | September 24th

Trust me, you’re not half as excited as we are. :-D

Muppet | September 24th

Just want to say the game is everything i hoped for and more, truly GOTY and decade probably, thank you Media Molecule thank you thank you thank you and Eurogamer and Sony.
Just wondered if there will be an interview or a behind the scenes with Stephen Fry? I’d love to hear his thoughts and comments on the game and working on it etc. Please let us know it would be very interesting as he’s an intellectual witty genius, and whoever had the idea of using him as narrator is also a genius. Not long till the full release, thanks again MM,

privatejoker | September 24th

I cant find any form of feedback for this Beta at all, so I guess I post here!

I wanted to give my feedback about one element of the game. I dont know if this is emmited from the beta or not, or whether it’ll be in a tutorial added to the game later… but it wasnt too clear at all how to get other local players into and out of gameplay.

We figured quickly it was just a case of turning on the Playstation controller to get a player into the game.. however we were scratching our heads for a while trying to turn one player off when he needed to pop out for a while. There didnt seem to be any kind of tutorial or instructions. We soon found that it was a case of turning off the controller, but we had to wait a few moments before this was detected.

What would be great would be if it were possible to manage local players as you do online players in the party screen.

We also found it confusing saving and loading costume designs for other local players (Not player 1). Costumes could be stored during the gameplay session, but restart the game and they were lost. This is a shame since the general ethos of the game is about shared experiences. If there were some way of supplying local players with costume save slots as player one has, that would be terrific…

If I just missed something huge during that incredible introduction level though, I apologize entirely!

I’ve been looking forward to this game like nothing else before, even from the first trailers where it was not even known that players could create levels! As always, waiting impatiently and frantically for every scrap of news that comes out your studio! Keep it real Media Molecule!!

mrSimon | September 24th

Aleluia aleluia !!!!!! BETA BETA BETA BETA!!!! I LOVE LITTLE BIG PLANET !!!!!

AndrySly(PSN) | September 24th

Hi guys.

I got the beta but i have a problem.. when i try to start level 1 its says : Failed to create game.

can someone help me with this?

Brambel | September 24th

The Beta is great, I wasn’t planning on buying LBP, but will now. My only complaint: We need a better way to organize user created levels. When this hits retail its going to be REALLY difficult to keep track. Love it. My username is SauerEuro, hope to see you online.

sauereuro | September 24th

Buhuu! I tried and tried to get a key to the beta. But instead, I´ve built levels in my head instead. This at work. :P Don´t know what my boss thought about my head being somewhere else.. this as I didn´t ask him really… :D

CAN`T WAIT FOR THIS!!!
:D

@Yome Netsan

Thats exactly what i meant, going back and front of the screen dosnt feel natural, theres something wrong about it. Thats my only complain too

Daver | September 24th

@Yome NetSan

Thats exactly what i meant, going back and in front of the screen dosnt feel natural, theres something wrong with it i think. This is the only complain i have too

Daver | September 24th

But tell me 1 thing? Why do they do this?

Yesterday I’ve got some friends who are beta testers that got 1 key. Today (NOW!) they’re receiving more keys from Sony. They have 2, and 1 of them is useless.

I wasted 3 hours yesterday, and waiting today for a key, and nothing.

They lost my respect, and I am not going to buy this game, because I think we ALL should be able to play it.

I loved this game, I loved Sony. Now, fuc* them all.

cool to hear guys
i spent about 6 hours clicking the refresh in several tabs and still didnt get in but hay-ho. good luck with the beta guys

dale lees | September 24th

Fantastic!
I played the beta and it is beautiful and charming. I love the music and characterisation. This game oozes charm.
MM team, hold on to your hats as this game is gonna be a smash!

Yeah thanks for the coming of the key for a Beta.

kokonuts | September 24th

So far the beta is just amazing, I love it, great job ! :D

I have to admit though, I was really happy when I read that it was an old build, because even though I didn’t get any problems while playing the game itself, I have encountered a lot of connection problems/lagginess, and the game crashed twice on me. (meaning it didn’t necessarily freeze, but I couldn’t do anything and had to reboot my console manually. I really hope these kinds of issues will get fixed, or already have been. ;)

smealum | September 24th

I HAVE THE LBP BETA HURRA!!!

Fernando | September 24th

BLAH!!!!! Stupid Eurogamer xD it crashes, well at least the game is 1 month away!!! *-* CANT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but if I win a Beta key Omgs i would bee soooo happy!!!! u.u

Btw listen to Ulf Wakenius x3 Jazz rocks *-*

That’s sad, i followed you since the game was announced, and i didn’t get a spot in the beta. :(
I’m gonna go cry in a corner now.

Peder landsverk | September 24th

I found a bug in the beta. Sometimes after I took a photo and tried to paste it, I will see a spinner icon on the photo (The photo’s black), and it would keep spinning forever. I can’t get out from that mode and the entire game waits for the spinner. Had to restart the game.

patsu | September 24th

Well, I just played the beta :)

I agree with Yome NetSan: Going back to front (& vice versa) on the screen is kind of a pain in the a**, which is weird because the gameplay is great otherwise (being able to switch from plan to plan while moving with r1 & l1, like for placing object in creation mode would have been great)

Anyway, it feels like a great game, & after playing the 3 levels of the beta, i really wanna try the 47 others. Less than a month yeah \o/

Derek | September 24th

anyone know if the levels we create are going to be compatible with the retail version?

If you really wanted to test out your serves, you’d release it onto the UK Playstation Store. Just like the MGO Beta because in all fairness, there will be ALOT more then 5000 people signing on on the day of launch. So it isnt really a good test of your servers.

I’m sure if you did a open beta, you’d have everyones attention and you’d get to test out your servers.

The one thing i cant stress enough is; treat fellow UK’ers with some kindness. After all, you lot are all based here and we do pay more for everything. Its already bad enough that other countries get the game before us! Let us have a taste of LBP!

I’m so unlucky and so upset my laptop broke a day before the beta keys were handed out! I now come onto my laptop today to find the beta had been released and only 5800 codes had being offered. If the full game wasn’t coming out in a few weeks I would hang myself now
Love you MediaMolecule xxx
can’t wait to play the game

MmmmCubes | September 24th

oo genial…. yo kiero jugar eso xD…

david | September 24th

I have a question…..

Was wondering if the levels that are made from the Beta will still be up on the servers when the game releases or will the servers be wiped fresh?

Game is great!

CloudyFuture | September 24th

Having the same bug as “Happy Space Invader” i have a easier way to fix it. Just “turn off” the remote and you can play right away without restarting the game.

Cheers

PatrikS | September 24th

Completely agree paul!

cemrok | September 24th

<3 Alex HUGE enthusiasm!

I seriously cherish the great passion that went into this game thats so “simple” (its not! but it feels like you can grasp the concept immediateoly!) yet so brilliant!

What I still cant get over is the fact that this is made by a team or a mere (give or take) 25 PEOPLE on a team.

Usually the people who work on these big titles come in sums like 90 and at times ringing the 150’s.

HighLuxury | September 24th

roman212 is my psn i want the beta if you have 10 keys.

roman212 | September 24th

Aww man. I wish I could be a part of all this so badly. It all looks so awesome. I HAVE to get a North American Beta code when they get released or I might honestly get sleep deprivation and get depressed I want it SO BADLY!!!!!!

aom_stig | September 25th

I’m wondering where do we report issues with the beta? You spoke of Rock Band and one issue I’m having is LBP thinking that my guitar dongel is a second controller and forcing me to assign a profile to it.

Another is I entered a user level and the “return to pod control” was disabled and there was no way to leave the level. Quit via XMB and the PS3 crashed.

These aren’t gripes, I love the game and already pre-ordered it. Just wanted t ogive this feedback.

Sweet jesus. Do you have any idea what you’ve done? thats got to be one of the best games ive ever played. and its a beta? and theres more to come? and theres slick missions too? im going to have to book the whole of 2009 off, just to get it all out of my system.

Sam Wells | September 25th

You guys are the best… and def are deserving of a vacation very soon (atleast just for a few days) before you gotta start working on the DLContent. But best of luck guys on a successful launch… Can’t not wait to get my hands on it. –4DX.

hey Ales, my names Alex, I guess people named Alex were ment to do great things, like play LBP in 27 DAYS!!!! OMG it’s sooo close yet so far, please release even earlier. I’m prayin for a one week early release!!!!

I have a suggestion if it’s not there yet.
The Sticker Switch.

Will it be possible if not make the item disappear after XX amount of times? I want certain levels to be fair and not let users have the sticker(s) with them all the time.

suki vee | September 25th

@ Dominic

“I am still annoyed at how the beta keys were given out seeing as most of the people are American and not infact from europe…”

Firstly, that doesn’t even make sense, and secondly, “most of the people” (i presume you mean fans) are not American. >_>

Alex (PSN:Arekkz) | September 25th

@PatrikS: Yeah I figured out that you don’t actually have to reset the game after turning off the remote shortly after posting here.

Still, we shouldn’t have to do that – I tend to use the remote for everything except actually playing games, so switching it on and off either side of every LBP session is going to get tiresome very quickly. Other games manage to tell the difference between SixAxis controllers and remote controls perfectly well, so I’d class this as a bug that needs fixing.

Fantastic game though! :-)

@ Sau

That’s just stupid, your “biting your nose off the spite your face” (as the common phrase goes). You are saying that your not going to buy this amazing game, just because you didn’t get into the beta. Your not the only one, I also stayed religiously on Eurogamers site for about 3 hours straight, just hitting F5 over and over trying to get to the beta keys site, only to be dissapointed, but i have been waiting for this game since the very first day they announced it, and the way i look at it, I have waited this long, so what harm is another month?

Alex (PSN:Arekkz) | September 25th

i keep reading so much about the great reviews LBP is getting…. i want to get in this BETA altho i doubt it’ll happen. If anyone wants to help (SONY im looking at you buddy!) plz send me a key my PSN ID is: KOMBAT

MM congrats…. but OPEN THE US BETA!!!

“What I still cant get over is the fact that this is made by a team or a mere (give or take) 25 PEOPLE on a team.

Gears of War was created by a team of 35 people, so it’s not that unusual.

Am really loving the beta and feel lucky to be a part of it. It’s all going smoothly for me so far, although I haven’t got to the level design part yet – I’ve been trying to 100% the levels, not very sucessfully but having massive fun doing so!

Agreed definitely feeling priveledged to be part of this beta. Loving every minute. The 10 days between the beta stopping functioning and the game launching proper are going to be very long.

Quick question, though probably answered already, when i get the full game can i continue as normal with my creations or do we have to start afresh?

Shaun (PSN:CodeMonkey_UK)

Shaun | September 25th

I got in :D

My first level coming soon. Tis epic!

Things I can think that could be improved:

Corner editing cursor moves very slowly, possibly a modifier button that speeds it up or something.

A way to set a reset point for certain objects in levels. For example, I placed a one shot switch on dissolve material and accidentally set it off and didn’t realise until much later so couldn’t undo. If there was a reset button that took all the objects with a reset point back to their original positions it would really help.

Otherwise, awesome.

Only bug I’ve found is sometimes sackboy runs away when editing the properties of something and when you leave those properties he’s all the way over the other end of the map.

Cheers
Will

I love this game !!!

So relaxing, funny and unbelievable beautiful…

Thanks to you all :-D

Nike De Vos | September 25th

the game looks so fun!

oskwish | September 25th

Hi Will! How to enter in the beta? Can invite people?Add in PSN PSN_alex94

I wishyou folk and have already pre paid for the full game. If you have 10 codes between you, I would gladly trade my personal Socom Beta Code with you so I could get into the beta, it’s boring here in St. John’s Newfoundland Canada. There is nothing to do and I’m bored with Socom now because you can only play crossroads so many times before it gets STALE! This game or its beta will NEVER GET STALE! Please hook this “NEWF” up as I’ve applied for jobs with you folk and everything. Heck I helped 40 PSU members get into the Socom beta. ( I hade 15 beta codes that I paid for at EB GAmes…)(( I didn’t charge anyone for them like others were doing on the forums, please hook me up with one of the 10 your people have.)) thanks either way. Can’t wait till full release!!!LESS THAN A MONTH AWAY!!!!

SOOPERGOOMAN187 | September 25th

the beta is amazing the more i play it the more i love it.
p.s. is there any way of uploading more then 5 levels?

HICMAN | September 25th

The beta is really awesome, I can’t wait to play the full story mode and i’m already stuck with tons of ideas for levels, keep up the good work MM!

<3

Hi Media Molecule,
You already know how good you game is. All I’ll say is that for once the hype was warranted. Anyway, thought I’d give some proper feedback on the beta:

Only had 2 issues:

1. Sometimes in my Pod it kinda locks zoomed in. I can wiggle the camera about a bit but not move away from the pod controls and not really see what’s going on in there.
2. On one particular level I was on a block of ice and unable to move back toward the start of the level even though there was nothing visibly blocking my path. I’ll try and find what level it was and post more details.

Anyway, this has Game of the Year written all over it. Nice one.

:( meh, It’s in sony’s hand? then I guess we wont hace any beta here in south america

Rodrigo | September 25th

Just reporting my first problem. I was in the process of making my own level, spent a few hours on it, saved it, but when i load the beta up now the level is there on my moon, but i can’t access it to edit or play. It just says loading but nothing happens. I left it for probably 3 minutes before restarting but still same problem. Makes me nervous about starting again because my design will take over 10 hrs to create i’m sure, and I’d hate to lose it all over again, any patches or updates coming, has anyone else experienced this? LBP is still the greatest game ever conceived for sure.

PrivateJoker | September 25th

Happened to me PrivateJoker. Just reload the game. Worked for me.

WHAT A GAME !!!
I am 29yrs old, I have had a ps3 since launch and no game I have yet to come across has really got me back into gaming like I was a good few years ago… Then I was lucky enough to get a Beta key on Eurogamer and you have totally filled me with enthusiam for this game and the endless possibilites it will create. I think a few months after its been realised we won’t have even scratched the surface with what can be created, people will inspire other people and it will continue to build. I can’t stop talking about this game to friends, I have invited friends to play it and we all love it !!! I am counting down the days to 24th of October. One complaint, is was born in UK why the hell aren’t we 1st for full release. Why do the fat yanks get it 1st hahaha
PRE – ORDER THIS GAME !!! ITS AMAZING, I was even more shocked reading it was on old build haha mental !!
Sackboy gets all the attention but the credit goes to the developers and all there hardwork, well done chaps… :) A very happy gamer

Jonny | September 25th

Will the full creation editor have a simple paint editor?

A Palette of simple colors, a fill tool, pattern tool, eraser, etc.

applying colored stickers is a bit time consuming and there’s a limit to how much we can add.

Also.

The beta client we have. what percentage of content do we have compared to the full game’s content? 10%? 15? 30?

suki vee | September 25th

iv been wondering the same as suki vee. cos the beta is 1gb and the full game is 40gb. i mean if they rely represent how much is in it then the beta is 2.5% of the full game.

HICMAN | September 25th

i played it for about 29 hours with a 2 hour break! my longest sitting on the ps3 was about 8 hours on gta before that lol time just flys by! i got achey face from laughing so much, i just got a couple of hours sleep and getting back on it in a mo, the game is Crazy!! i love it

ghb08 | September 25th

I was lucky enough to get a key from eurogamer but I can no longer play it because I decided to play it on my brother’s ps3. I read carefully the scrolling condition under information and I was sure this was allowed. I still dont understand but it has been confirmed that the beta will no longer work for you if you do this. just a warning. amazing game and now im amazingly depressed

loell | September 25th

The level editor has something I miss. There should be a button somewhere that should say set start position for devices or triggers, because once accidentally activated you’ll have to replace it.

Also some rods, ropes and other suspension materials dissapear when trying to re-edit a level. I already reconnected the same platform more then 12 times! It also sometimes doesn’t save the modifications made during tweaking and then you’ll have to tweak again and again until it finally works (mostly about 3 times before it works).
Also some times the camera zooms out way far and then there is no easy way to adjust it, with the exception of simply going into hover and then adjusting it with the right analog stick. I wish there was another way when being in non-hover mode.
There also was this level where there was no ending, no end of level sign nor leaderboard-television. It was impossible to finish.
In the online section; sometimes when you join a game with people already in it and you join. Once they go back to their pods and they disconnect from the internet 9 out of 10 times your game will crash/freeze and this way I already had broken gamedata twice. Very upsetting.
And once I leave the game as host all ‘party’ members automaticly follow me to my pod, but if I want to play on my own, then there is no way to ‘kick’ them out.
I also noticed that when I press select I get some kind of reporting screen, judging by the ‘Good grief..’ at the top, but since it’s not properly explained I have no clue what to do with it..

Thank you very much for making this game, it’ll make life more joyous for sure. I love the whole idea where LittleBigPlanet is where all creativity goes, I certainly do dream about it at night, more specificly what I’m gonna build the next day :D

i still loveing the game but now have a slight concern,

My game save data got corrupted through no fault of my own, due to laggers, and so when i restarted it i had to start from the begining and lost all my goodies, im not complaining, its free and a beta, its all gravy, just if that happened on the retail version after finishing most of story mode or whatever that would be most enoying, like iv put over 40 hours into the beta and collected loads of stuff thats now gone and that was upsetting enough but say it happens after putting 200+ hours in the final version just too loose everything uv collected coz of someone else quiting or something, that would just be terrible.

i beg you keep a back up of our save data somewhere on your servers for the retail version, pleaseee

ghb08 | September 27th

This sucks…
Trying to get a beta key from a game site is just as hard as finding William Wonka’s golden tickets

:(

Hope there’s more ways to receive a code

Epcott | September 30th

hey MM thank you for takeing my life awayfrom the world and thats just with a beta look what i did with what i had maxed out
