And in other news…

As some of you may have noticed, LBP has been slightly delayed in some territories. At MM we were as shocked and dismayed by this as anyone – shellshocked and gutted. We can’t wait for you all to get playing and creating!
We learnt yesterday that there is a lyric in one of the licensed tracks which some people may find offensive, and which slipped through the usual screening processes. Obviously MM and Sony together took this very seriously. LBP should be enjoyable by all. So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), Media Molecule had prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disk image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no on-line was to replace existing disks. They assure us that they are doing everything in their power to get things straightened out as fast as possible, and will announce dates soon.
Apologies to everyone excited to play the game and I can assure you that when it arrives, it will be worth the wait! We want everyone to be able to enjoy the game, and this tweak should help – we’re just gutted it couldn’t be sooner. MM continues to work hard to support the game too. We know that LBP will be something that you can enjoy for a long time to come, when all of this is forgotten and all that remains are thousands of incredible levels and creations to play, create and share.
[EDIT Sony are going to announce new dates and information re discs for each territory soon. We'll keep you posted! The patch is ready from our side and I imagine it will go live at the same time as the game. More info when we get it.]
[EDIT #2 Sorry for the downtime, it seems this is as emotional for you as it was for us. However, please try to breath in and out and keep your commenting at least clean if not polite
Thanks -jim]
I give my support to you guys.
Im amazed by the effort that SCEE is putting on the subject.
Poor guys at SCEE and MM ;_;
Will this be delayed in the States. please please say it aint so
Not just some countries – it is now a worldwide recall – what about those of us who have the game – will it be patched or will we have to return the title – seems silly just because of some lyrics.
AVADA KEDAVRA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey MM whats with the peoble who got a copy early? Will the copys be patched to work with the delayed ones? Or are they worseless now…?? Also when do you think the servers will go up?
…Wow this is really sad… at least it’s now really confirmed so we know that this is real… thank you for informing us.
Unbelievable. Did you know that you can make music in this game? Did you know that you can make wooden cut-outs of Muhammed in this game? I’m so tired of waiting for this game to come out. It’s like Sony wants to fail.
So which territories will get delayed. Please do not say US. The US is freedom of speech if they don’t like it they don’t have to buy it I don’t mind a Day 1 patch at all I don’t think anyone does. If they don’t have internet they have to deal with the song its not a big deal.
Why? WHY?! I’ve been waiting for LBP since 2007, and, after playing the beta, I’m more obsessed than before.
WHY?!?!
Atleast tell us when it’ll get out?
I’m disappointed. I was hoping this was just a rumor…
Man this is horrible for you guys who worked so hard on the game. Thanks for the update though on confirming the rumors.
Could you give us word on the territories that will be effected? Will the North American release be pushed back as well?
Boohoo! I’m offended with this game not arriving in time! Go think about that!
And who does have a PS3 BUT no online?! That someone doesn’t have his priorities straight.
Unbelieveable. Because I don’t speak Somalian nor am I Muslim, I am to be punished by delaying a release I’ve waited patiently for.
This is the worst possible decision Sony could have made. Simply delaying release in Somalia would have sufficed, but a worldwide delay is unacceptable. If this pans out, you will find my PS3 on ebay waiting for a new owner.
Yes America has their launch delayed too – which is the biggest mess of all seeing a load of people already have it there and it better be patched up rather than returned
Ugh. This is really not cool. I want my money back for paying it in full.
I am absolutely gutted about this. I have been waiting for this game since the first presentation, and playing the beta just got me more excited. A day 0 patch seems sufficient to me, seeing as the whole point of the game is the online! The only up-side is that it moves the date off the release of Fable II, but I am looking forward to this game so much more!
I feel like i just got punched in the nuts by Sackboy
Who ever says its worldwide is and idiot when the article clearly says “some territories”
According to http://threespeech.com/blog/2008/10/littlebigplanet-scees-official-statement/ it’s effective worldwide. Which sounds about right, I don’t understand why it wouldn’t be. I’m pretty sure there are muslims everywhere in the world who would be offended by this.
Anyhow, thanks for the update and I’m sorry for you guys. To be honest, there’s probably not a single person who isn’t disappointed to hear this.
Fail
(U-_-) In Europe.
My local retailer sold copies of the game early, and I currently have it.. my question is, will I have to give it back or will a patch suffice for it to work online?
I’m sorry for getting the game early.. I couldn’t wait and my retailer confirmed to me that “they just got it early”.. anyway, please give us an update about whether or not we need to give back our copies.. early notice would be very much appreciated.
It would be nice to get confirmation if those of us who have the game already have to either return it – or if there is a patch on day 1.
So, the more I think about this the madder I get. How long will it take for Sony to ensure they got all the “bad Muslim-offending” copies of the discs back, then re-press, then re-ship. We’re talking MAYBE Christmas now. There is NO reason this couldn’t be a 0-day patch…rather than punish the majority of the world (which is what you’re doing now), why not punish those who get offended and do NOT have Internet access….much smaller group of peopl to piss off, don’t you think?
boooooooooooo
by the way I just founded a new religion, which finds it offencive, when artists are not allowed to mix words of their choice with their choice of music.
MM do you care about this????
Is the song in question going to be censored or will it be removed completely from the game? I’ve listened to the song a few times and it’s very catchy, and would suck if it was completely removed.
Guys I am sorry you had to suffer for this. I am pretty sure this decision was not without heartbreak on you or SCEE.
One suggestion if the shipping is uber delayed, is to reignite another beta, proably not possible but just a thought.
My heart is with you in these hard times.
Why is this happening to me? im canceling my preorder now.
I,m gutted for you boys, and I hate Sony for not accepting the patch, Infact a patch and a sticker on the box would have been fine. Sony are Sooooooooo lame sometimes. They need to really get a grip. Most would not even notice it or even find it offencive, Minority over majority ever time grrrr.
well odne you did the sensible thing and ill still buy the game
sony however took the extreem approch… anychance of you makeing 15 million copys in 4 days and getting them out i really hope theres not too much of a delay.
Can’t you reopen the beta until release then? so many of us feel let down
Why are people trusting these third party websites that its world wide when the OFFICIAL MM BLOG says “some territories” people are so ignorant sometimes.
No, I live in America and we demand our game as promised. This is total B.S. if they don’t like it don’t play it. Patch our version that’s fine with me, but don’t tell me I have to wait another month to play. If that’s the case release the beta as a full demo for all.
I was so excited to get this game. No longer. Sorry, guys, but I’m going to have to cancel my pre-order. You can say it’s about “quality,” but we all know that isn’t true. It is only about fear. Well, you’re a business, first and foremost, and of course you have to consider the ramifications of offending fanatical Muslims. Now you’ve offended me, and as such I don’t feel you deserve my money.
Could you guys please extend the beta for 3 more weeks? I’m sick to my stomach from this news…
Well.
I can see that this decision make sense to take copies back because it was bound to happen that people found this lyric and try to start useless arguments about it online.
Taking all copies back is more a statement from SONY to show that this lyric really was a mistake and nothing else.
This is just a game, but we all live in a world full of politics and religious believes.
It was a decent decision altough I am dissapointed that I have to wait….
As said before, it really is like Sony WANT TO FAIL. LittleBigPlanet was one glimer of hope and now this… How many people would really, REALLY have been offended by this had it not been shoved in our faces by taking it TOO seriously. How many people would really, REALLY have been offended by this? Ten? Twenty people? And how many of those people would have had any intention of buying LBP, or even knew it existed? One? Then what are the chances that one person didn’t have an online connection!?
Shame… religion really is backward.
Forgive my hyperbole for this is to be a truely awesome game come its’ release.
im asking for my money on the store…
i swear…
Gutted. I have no patience. But I want a golden goose NOW!
Thanks for the update, again. I really feel for everyone out at Media Molecule.
To Sony, Godspeed with the re-printing.
Dibs on the first Qur’an level.
Listen Guys this out of MM’s hands they have no say this is Sony
WHICH COUNTRIES !?!?!?!? please dont say the UK
@LBPedia – it won’t be xmas. If you think that the game went gold within the last month. So surely even if it took as long this time that’s still within November.
@Chris – wouldn’t it be odd to only recall the discs in certain reasons. Surely the whole thing is affected worldwide.
I’m sorry to hear this news. I’ve been playing the beta and have been very excited to play the full release. I’m not sure now when I’ll pick this game up now. I’d love to support your company as I’ve been very impressed with you guys. However, I don’t agree with the decision to recall a game that could easily be patched and will be canceling my pre-order and may not have the money for another game for quite some time.
Again, hope things work out for the best but you’ve lost my release day sale.
If we’re talking a complete recall of all builds of LittleBigPlanet, I’m presuming we can expect a long delay in launch…. If this turns out to be the case, can Media Molecule PLEASE, PLEASE re-instate the beta (demo).
Meerkat mum is very angry.
So what about the first week content. like the space suit I pre-ordered the game for many reasons and having it day 1 10/21/08 was one of them will we still get that space suit?
NO!! NO!! NO!! just because you have ONE upset group, now you’re screwing the rest of us over?
You’re killing my ENJOYMENT for Political correctness? Personally, I don’t care that there’s a TWO lyrics in the entire game that has someone upset, so now you’ve agreed to tick off the rest of the PS3 community for this?
AS HSO wrote, if my region is one of those (and it seems to be a worldwide announcement now), you’ve decided not to offend this whiners (and yes, that’s what I consider them), to offend me?
Guys, you wrote the “PATCH IS READY”.. so why the delay? You have the patch, there is no reason to delay it whatsoever… Whether or not this is on Sony’s end or yours for agreeing to it, this is the WRONG decision to make.
THANK U MM & SONY
WE WILL SUPPORT YOU GUYS.
Today a local store from my country (Chili, South America) broke the street date and I rushed to buy the game (NA version of the game) as I couldn’t wait and I didn’t want to miss the first week DLC (very limited supply of copies here).
Now I fear my copy will not work when the game launches on November, the store is not accepting returns either
will we be left out or are you going to do a patch for us? games like these are really expensive for us (about one third of the minimum wage here) and I definitely can’t afford to buy the game a second time
Greets

Its good to see Xbots here now. Sony doesn’t want to fail, doing this means they want everyone to enjoy there game and not get into trouble for upsetting people with strong religion ties.
Sony is getting worst
It’s not MM’s fault, they’ve done great in all this. And all those bashing Sony, they are only doing what they think it right. It would be nice to have a stronger word from Sony about if it’s worldwide or Europe, but that’s nothing MM can handle. However, I do think it’s a great idea for MM to quell the masses, and make people like me very happy by re-releasing the beta, I’ve already been going through withdraws from the planned gap between the beta and release.
I’m very sorry MM and Sony, but this solution is cowardous and retarded.
What you COULD have done was just release a mandatory patch that fixes the problem, but out of FEAR you’d rather do it the hard way. Recalling EVERY copy when in the US some stores have already started selling? That’s idiotic.
I hereby cancel my LBP preorder.
Bye.
I have no hard feelings against Mm, I’m just sitting here with level designs in my head and it’s driving me crazy. I had a vacation planned for next week so I could play this game. Now what am I going to do? I have to ask my boss and see if I can reschedule my vacation. I’m so upset.
awh, the sad thing is this:
How many people should actually buy a game and use cheats or act teamkillers.
The answer to that question should be “no-one”, but in fact the answer is “tons of people”.
The decision is a correct one from a business-point-of-view. After this *hopefully minor* delay people will soon forget and just play this awsome game…:-)
This is an utter shame. I was obsessed with this game for the longest time. Now I really couldn’t care less. The only thing Sony managed to achieve by pulling the copies is infuriate entire countries of gamers. Good job Sony, you blow once again.
Can you PLEASE let people have the beta again? And everyone this time? I didn’t manage to get a beta key before and would love to try out the game.
Also, sony isn’t going to fail because of this, they’ll actually do better because of the free advertising due to the controversy.
How about a second round of beta for everyone until the release?
Gah, what’s with Sony delaying things unneccasarily, I mean if you guys had the patch and new image ready…
Also, im with the other people who are asking if we can have the beta back… Pretty please, id be willing to donate £1 if I could get it back.
Well, this is the final straw… Goodbye PS3. Hello Xbox!
Sony clearly don’t know what they are doing. WHO RUNS THE PLACE?
I don’t seem to remember such an absurd reaction to Cathedral-gate in Resistance!?
Sorry, Media Molecule. This is going to be tougher on you guys and girls than it is on us fans. Hopefully Sony can get those discs pressed as quickly as possible. I’ll still be buying your wonderful game the first day it’s on store shelves; I can’t wait.
Aw man.
I feel for you guys I really do.
WELL, SO EXPAND THE LITTLEBIGPLANET BETA THEN. OR JUST RELEASE A DEMO OR SOMETHING.
I really hope this doesn’t extend the release timeline by a whole lot. LBP single player was supposed to keep me entertained till Fallout 3 gets released.
Apparently the reason for the recall is that Muslims find the mixing of lines from their holy book into music offensive… not what the lines said, but that the lines were used to begin with. Why they haven’t been after Apple for selling it on iTunes, or the Music company for producing the song in the first place I don’t know.
What about the people that already got the game, what is going to happen to those people? Cause I know a couple of people that already got the game … so what happens to those people?
Amazing, a giant corporation pandering to a few touchy assholes.
Where was all this outrage when the artist created the track in the first place?
What a load of shit.
When are corporations (Sony) going to stop tiptoeing around the religion of Islam? Honestly, it’s sad. We have wacky Christians all over the world protesting about murder, blood, sex, and whatever in Grand Theft Auto and we could care less about them (the way it should be), but the second a text from the Qur’an is recited in the background of a random song on the soundtrack, we go calling them all back like it’s the end of the world.
This isn’t about tolerance. If someone wants to be a Muslim, I’m more than happy to treat them just like I treat anyone else in the world – but that’s the thing. Why the hell do we have to tiptoe around those of the Islamic faith just because their viewpoint on their scripture is different than ours? Shouldn’t THEY be tolerant enough to understand that we aren’t offended by that activity, and in turn meet us halfway by not freaking the hell out about the text being in a game. Sure, get offended, that’s fine, but we don’t need to recall a game that’s already gold because of some music.
Honestly, it’s just ridiculous. Christians won’t play “Grand Theft Auto”, vegans won’t play “Tasty Meat Massacre 3″, and I won’t play “Save the Heathens with Jesus 5″. It’s as simple as that. If it offends people, warn them and hopefully they won’t play it. If they freak out, that’s their fault.
*pats back of MM people* These things happen. Don’t care too much about the naysayers. They’ll throw a fit if their eggs aren’t cooked properly. Just do the best you can, yea?
Trashcat is not amused.
This is a big mistake. What’s the big deal with the song? The Quran is meant to be sung; most Islamic music includes the Quran. If there are any Muslims who would be offended, they aren’t going to be playing the game anyways. Or is this because everyone else might be upset that you got Islam in your game? That’s equally wrong, and acting this way doesn’t help anything. All this does is make a big deal out of nothing, and waste the time of everyone who has been looking forward to this game for a year and a half.
I gotta say, I’m done. Jesus Christ, how long have we waited for this and you decide to put it off another month?
I hope you enjoy knowing that I’ll be putting the $60 that I would originally have put towards LBP towards Fallout 3 on the PC. You just lost a sale, I was on the fence anyway after playing the beta, but now I’m just done with the BS. Unbelievable that you wait until the weekend before release and then screw us. My kids made a friggin calendar that they’ve been marking off the days on til the 21st when it was coming out. Now I gotta tell them it’s not going to happen.
Maybe I’ll pick up LBP after the beginning of the year…used.
Nooooo!!! This is really sad!!! Being a non-religious type I can only roll my eyes over the reason for the delay. But if it makes the people who initiated this madness happy… However, I’m shure that even those people wouldn’t want a delay! The patch would be a perfect solution and it’s good to read that you allready have one ready. Maybe Sony will still come to reason… (I know it’s wishful thinking)
One week left to the releashe… this have to be a joke.
Well I’ve just cancelled my LBP pre-order. I’m not going to get it all now.
All of my PSN friends and people of the forums are doing the same. Media Molecule, sorry to say this but. You failed.!!!!!!!
I’m off.
Dear MM,
Please do not be discouraged by many of the outrageous comments above, those along the lines of “I hereby cancel my pre-order” and “Sony and MM should fail for this”.
There will always be people out there who will seek to undermine your hard work, and who delight in inflicting painful, unhelpful criticisms. We all know it is much harder to offer constructive advice or feedback.
Just to let you know that there’s still a huge group of rational, reasonable people who appreciate the work you’ve poured into this, and will definitely help make the game a smashing commercial success upon proper (re)release.
Take heart, MM!
I really can’t understand people who say that they don’t care about the game anymore because of the delay. I’m sure that neither Media Molecule nor Sony wanted this to happen and are doing what they feel is the right thing to do. They actually had the courage to not take the easy way.
My life isn’t going to end with this delay. In fact, i’m looking forward to LBP even more than ever and i’m sure it’s going to be worth the wait in the end.
stupid i prepaid and ill wait i have nothing against mm i look forward to lbp, giving us the beta again to work on our levels would be nice tohugh, i hold nothing against sony, who acted fast,
im annoyied at a certain pewrsonage who started this mess
I am as disappointed to hear this as anyone is. I am still chomping at the it to get at LBP, but I won’t be cancelling any pre-orders (and I hope those that do make sure to return those exclusive costume codes).
It would be great if you could turn the beta back on, but I understand if you can’t.
MediaMolecule, I wish Sony would have let you go with the 0-day patch, but they won’t so just replace the song and get us those discs ASAP – the true fans will still be here.
I apologize profusely if any Somalian speaking Muslims without Internet access were ofended by the 2 snippets of this song. Thanks to you (solid08) the entire will just have to wait anothe month on the LBP launch. I hope it was worth it to you!
Every problem have solution
-Let us buy and download the game online with the ps3 store on the 21st and send a copy to the people a month later.
or at least put a demo of the game on the 21st
More Beta would be great…at least for everyone who post a comment to support you guys
)
Can’t wait to have the game in hand anyway… I think it s going to be the game of the year
Jesus Christ what the **** is sony thinking. Oh, sorry was I being offending when i said Jesus Christ? Sony just keeps backstabbing us and I am absolutely sick of this. If it wasnt for media molecule, who did nothing wrong, I would cancel my preorder right now. This doesnt make sense because someone told sony muslims MIGHT be offended. Also we should also blame the guy who told this to sony, just for doing that. Now, thousands of retailers will get complaints from buyers while they cant do shit about it. Oh, sorry if I used a word from the qo’ran, should have looked up every word just to make sure i didn’t.
They should release a patch removing the song from the game.
For online-connected PS3s: Upon launching the game will automatically update.
For offline PS3s: Have the patch readily available at a MM or Sony website for download to a flash drive or other removable disk drive via a PC. I highly doubt that anyone who can afford a PS3 would not have access to a PC connected online somewhere be it at home, school, or the library.
This way you appease those offended by offering them a sure-fire way to get the offending material out of the game and they appease gamers who have pre-ordered and really love the game.
I’m part of a freedom of speach support group in Canada and we find it offensive that the game is delayed for this kind of stuff. The game should procede as it is and people offended by the song should’ve said so when the soundtrack list was released.
Don’t delay the game.
The very good song! LBP the best
first off, i want to apologize for going off on the MM guys before I went balistic… as I noted before i hit the send button, you guys already had the patch made, and are in between a rock and a hard-place…
I have to wonder how much this is going to cost you guys in terms of incoming moneys?
why not just patch it and anyone who is offended that doesn’t have internet can get sent a disk with just the patch. What a waste to have made all of those disks just to throw them away! Another example of sony going GREEN! I’ll bet that the # of patches they would have to send out to be pretty low.
I think that only the patch is just fine. We can wait for loading patch(While waiting for loading huge games like SOCOM and Burnout are possible on PSN, why waiting for this game patch is not possible?) but can’t wait to buy this game.
For god sakes people CHILL, the max delay it will be is a few weeks, latest November, but mostlikely just a ten day delay, so calm down.
What if you were, say… Indian? Or Korean? And there was something offensive to your religion/culture in a game? From what I know having any part of the Quran into a song or something to the effect of being sung/re worded etc, is offensive to muslims.
Imagine if somehow a song in the game in another language was preaching about jesus or christianity in a bad way, wouldn’t some of you as christians want that out of there? Think with an open mind people.
I am sorry to hear that Sony has decided to recall the product, but I hope that you still release the patch so that people who already have the game are able to play online when the game is finally released. The street date was broken by a number of stores across the US.
Then they should release the game sell the original run with a patch and print a press a new disk for the 2 people who care about this.
It’s ridicolous
Okay thanks for the update guys!
*Cancels Pre-Order*
I cant beleive sony want a total recall what a bunch of sackboys -_-. Why wont sony just let you guy release the patch are they getting death threats from the muslims or what?
totally gutless bullshit reason for the delay.
Religion sucks, Sony too, period.
Why are people cancelling their pre-orders? I don’t understand that at all. This was just unfortunate, you can’t blame MM for it. If you read the original forum post that triggered all this you’ll see that there were similar problems with other games including Zelda OOT. It’s just one of those things.
Anyway, it’s a shame we have to wait a bit longer but it doesn’t make the game any less awesome. Can’t wait to get it myself, this changes nothing.
By the way MM, congrats on the Edge 10! It must be amazing to see your own creation join such an illustrious group of games. Don’t let what’s happened distract from your amazing achievement.
why? a simple patch should fix this. To the guys at M.M. i respect yah, But Sony on the other hand just made me wonder what the hell they are thinking. If its 2 expressions, a patch should be a quick fix. If a patch can’t fix it they should at least explain why.
this is not fair, why should this happen to you MM? out of all devs ;_;
this is marketing…generating hype….all the world will know sackboy now !
This is absurd. To recall and essentially censor a game which is a form of media is wrong. If someone finds it offensive, too bad, they have the choice to not buy it. Just like they can change a channel or tune into a different radio station. Kowtowing to any religion, ethnicity or special interest group is what I find offensive. What you have made is not only a game or media but a work of art. It should be released as is and appreciated and enjoyed by those that choose to.
Just, turn on the beta again. It would be the right thing to do.
I’m offended by mm and Sony delaying this title. People are offended all the time, you can’t please everybody. I think you need to grow some balls and put inn to the game what you like. Some religious fanatics are offended by anything, they should stay away from movies, games, etc… ffs. In protest I may not buy your game now mm.
So how come musicians and actors can make fun my religion, Christianity, but they can’t make fun of Muslims? That’s a load of B.S.
This delay is so stupid. Sony had to take the most extreme route to fix the situation to the “offended” people. I think some people need to stop being so freaking sensitive about little lyrics coming from a Holy Book. It should not be offensive, in fact it should be great to listen to the words of your Holy Book in a song. At least fix the copies going to Muslim countries who take offense and give us non Muslims the game on time. This is so freaking stupid Sony, the majority of people in USA can not even understand what the heck the song is saying anyway.
I’m just shaking and can’t belive this. I’m tearing my hair of in rage. I hope I can survive until the new release date.
So why not leave the option for those of us who do live in the 21st century to pick up the game on the scheduled date and download a patch and let the handful of people who have a PS3 but no internet access and would actually care about this wait for a copy from the second batch?
im reaalllyy angrryyy now!
the release date was good >:(
it was in my vacation GRRRR…
tooo badd

DOES THAT MEAN THE LITTLE BIG PLANET BUNDLE WILL BE CANCELED?
I hope not because I don’t have the money to buy the console and the game separately…I am so sad because of this… I am rethinking my idea of buying a ps3 now… This would never have happened to Nintendo… Fuck you Sony! I always defended you from the miserable claims of Microsoft and Nintendo fanboys but now I see what a piece of shit of a company you actually are! I am so happy I bought a Wii instead of a ps3.

Hey MM. I object to all the ghosts I see inside LBP, as I believe you’re condoning devil worship. Please remove all references to ghosts right away.
Wonderful demonstration of butterfly effect. One individual thinks that this certain passage of a certain song played in a certain level could offend some people. Ok, we could patch it – but out of all those thousands Somalian-speaking orthodox people, there’s sure a whole lot which have got a PS3 but not an online connection, a TV without any kind of mute-button and the urge to buy LBP, so of course, all the copies have to be taken back.
I’m a realist; I think it is impossible to make a whole planet out of creative thoughts. Should I be offended by this game?
No, it’s ok. It really is. I can’t understand why this happens, but I won’t hate anyone because of this. It just… happened. But some friend of mine has just ordered a copy of LittleBigPlanet which has already been shipped and which will arrive soon. My only question is if he will be able to play it and patch it on release, or if he’ll have to return or just get rid of LBP. I’d be glad for a quick response as I think he could still return it as long as he doesn’t break the security seal.
Good luck Mm!
Pre-order cancelled. I don’t want to support a game or company(ies) which bow down to minority demands.
Hey Mm, Why can’t you just let everyone get the copy on the 21st and then just make it a huge patch so we at elast have the game? Even if it is 1 day long im syked about it and my friends were coming over too!!!!Just please make the patch a instant download just like trophies for warhawk!
Anyways, hope you can make this a download and still keep the release date because im really sad that the game i always dreamed of is delayed. Oh well , looks like I have to break it to my friends.
Let us fans know if you change your mind and take my idea or someone else’s
Bye for now.
Sentry, the one problem i see with your statement:
For god sakes people CHILL, the max delay it will be is a few weeks.
Except for the fact that for instance, Japan had the big “controller/LBP” packages, Sony had 80GB packages planned.. that aren’t getting sold now. The people who had those on order may now go to an entirely different system. They may not…
No telling right now, but I think Sony’s going to get hurt by this in numbers…
iam cancelling my preorder, too. i gonna play valkyria chronicles then.
i have only 2days a year i can freely set for vacation and now i have 2 days off next week, and the game is delayed… great cant cancel my vacation -.-
I just contacted GameStop. Clueless. Their computer still confirms a Oct 21 release date (US). sigh!
So why is it that a game like GTA can be released when the content of the game is supposed to be offensive, but a comment that can be found in the quran which may or may not offend people must be immediately removed????
Maybe this could work well for us get that patch for online co-op creating done ready for release work towards HDD stickers and this could be a plus point real bummer though although understood
ps a few nice sack costumes free or special things wouldnt go a miss, and re open the beta and KEEP the levels hehe
I canceled my pre-order because like many other people, i was hoping to get LBP before the other big title hits coming at the end of the month and through November and unfortunately now it will have to wait as i would rather play one new game at a time for a week or two before playing others.
Glad to see the site is up again.
Withnail: We’re cancelling our pre-orders because of the excuse: “Quality.” We know it has absolutely nothing do with quality but it’s fear of being blown up or attacked by zealous morons whose beliefs apparently trump freedom of speech and expression and good common sense. And quite frankly, we’re tired of it. Will someone please take a stand against this insanity. For once, please? Please? Sorry, MM, but you need to be made an example of. You should have fought against this stupidity. Take comfort: You’re not alone in this, I’m never buying another Sony product again. Nor will I ever buy any of your products.
Hang in there MM! I’m sure you guys were as psyched as we all were for the release and this is a rough time for you all. I know you’ve done everything you can and tried to make all the best decisions. It sucks that something had to put a damper on this extremely exciting release, but it’ll just make it even more satisfying when we finally get our hands on it! And in the end, a bit of delay won’t even matter to most of us, while the removal of the offensive content will surely mean a lot to those concerned about it. Take this one in stride and stay excited, we still are! =)
And to all the people who are having a fit on here about having to wait, and threatening to cancel pre-orders or abandon the PS3 or anything else, put yourself in MM’s shoes for a minute. They’ve worked so hard to make this totally amazing game, and found that the gaming community is totally in love with the game as well and can’t wait to play. Now there’s all this and they have to delay the game, and suddenly all of their loving fans are outraged and turning their backs on them. This is a lot harder on MM than it is on us. Just have some patience. Everyone’s trying to do what is right in this situation. It’s not some big Sony conspiracy, they really don’t have anything to gain from this move except avoiding being called out for not standing up for the little guy. So hang tight, be cool, and keep supporting this great team who is still going to be bestowing a wonderful game upon us.
The first level I will make:
You must get the goal object (This game disc) from point A (MM Studio) to point B (My PS3) without being killed by Muhammad or Sony emblems.
EDIT: The spell check corrected me misspelling Muhammad… I think the spell check needs a worldwide recall. ASAP
I am personally a practicing Christian. There are a lot of things in a lot of video games that are very offensive to my beliefs. You know what I do about it? I DON’T PLAY THEM! I don’t demand that they be changed so that I am no longer offended by their existence.
Isn’t that the real meaning of “tolerance”? Even if you don’t agree with the way other people act/believe, you don’t demand that do things your way.
Was going to buy LBP on release day, but can’t have my £40 burning a hole in my pocket for another 2 weeks. Going to buy Dead Space or Saints Row 2 now.
I know it’s the fault of Sony more than MM, but delaying the game for 2 lines from a religious text included in background music, not even in English, seems quite ridiculous.
Think this is going to hurt your sales badly, you know what the internets is like. But good luck!
Amazing, having a game delayed for offensive content is one thing, but for this small and narrow problem? Ridiculous, an absolutely shameful example of how sensitivity taken too far stifles free speech and threatens creativity itself. Does Sony know that in some Muslim countries dancing and singing are forbidden? There is no reason to be beholden to any group, minority or majority, if the overall effect is censorship. Let those who feel offended vote with their wallets, I doubt this song would convince most consumers to boycott. Though in this case it may seem trivial, the core issue of allowing suppression of speech on a knee jerk basis easily convinces me that I will never purchase this game. I was quite excited too.
to make it far, how bout Sony takes off $10 for everyone who has a pre-order on the game
Way to fail at proper quality control from the beginning. Honestly, why didn’t you guys get some common sense and screen all of the lyrics (IN EVERY LANGUAGE) BEFORE you decided on picking the songs. You need to take a look at your quality system and revise it, because obviously it isn’t up to snuff. As a result, you give yourself a bad image and are disappointing a lot of fans.
You had the opportunity to get an amazing piece of software out on time, but you succeeded in dropping the ball instead.
Sorry to hear the bad news guys. As you say in a short while when the game’s out this will all be forgotten about so don’t worry. It’s only a bit longer for us to wait and I know it will be worth it.
While I appreciate the pressure this fiasco puts Mm and Sony under, didn’t they think to check the lyrics of the songs BEFORE licensing them?
And what about those of us who are NOT offended by quotations from the Koran in Somali appearing in a song on the soundtrack? Why should we have to wait because a few religious folks might get upset? Is the Koran under copyright? Does its text need to be licensed? No. A day 0 patch is perfectly adequate.
just got an automatic call from gamestop. they have confirmed that it will be delayed.
Its amzing what two days can do to people, aint it?
The very same guys who stood up for this game are now cursing at their front door. I thought you guys liked this game. I know its delayed in all, but whats the blame game about?
Its amzing what two days can do to people, aint it?
The very same guys who stood up for this game are now cursing at their front door. I thought you guys liked this game. I know its delayed in all, but whats the blame game about? I had to wait two months for a hot title, myself( Super smash bros.) and it was delayed a good two months before I could finally play it(and there was no beta). Some of you haters should be ashamed of yourselfs. Sony and MM are doing everything they can to get this game in your hands(all religons) and swiftly. If they really didnt care, it wouldve been released…and all those that would’ve been offended would not buy it and THEN WHAT?.
Again, its amazing how mature the fanbase has become.
Shame on you.
well first off to the people that have been offending Muslim people over this, dont you have sumthin better to do with your time then be offensive? i think have all had enough of it…me personally and um not Muslim…
what i dont understand is why it has create such a stir, a patch was made and MM had everything under control, until Sony decided they would pull it? there are games out there with more offensive material on them. when i place the game in my PS3 the patch should install and then well…bobs your uncle, done and done, the hype machine behind this game has been great at work and has gotten me stoked to have this game more then ever, i was upset to here about this at first, and i wish there was an easy way of bringing us the game on time…i have not cancelled my Pre-Order and i wont has the delay doesnt seem to be long.
I have been in touch with some folks at EBGames here in Kanada i called this afternoon and they said they havent heard of this as of yet…i called again 5 minutes ago (call me anal if you like, but whatever) and this time someone said they spoke with the Sony rep and nuthin was said about it again….he says everything looks groovy for tuesday release, but that things can change at anytime….he said if you want to call everyday they were cool with that…i told him i will ha ha ha lol
!
i feel bad for MM and the shit that Sony is putting them through S0nyPHA1Lz again seeing as there was no need to push the release date back, seeing as the actual developers of the game had everything under control from the time shit hit the fans…
*fingers crossed

There’s no point in any of us getting upset over this, there’s nothing we can do. Sony has recalled the game and will reprint the discs. I don’t agree with it at all but that’s the way it is. MM have made a brilliant game and I’d rather not read about MM or Sony being blown up by an extremist muslim suicide bomber who was offended when playing LBP! At least now MM have more time to polish the game up and patch any issues they found during the beta and Sony HQ will have themselves a lifetime supply of LBP coasters. All those who threw their toys out of the pram and supposedly cancelled their pre-order should take their ritalin and go and sit quietly like the rest of us.
The lawyers at Sony are going to have to go into the witness protection program.
As much as I would love to support this, but no.
So what if there is lyrics that someone may find offensive.
A 0-day patch is fine if we need to patch it. But NO THIS IS SONY WE ARE TALKING ABOUT! THEY LIKE TO DELAY EVERYTHING THEY PUT THEIR HANDS ON! So lets release the game at a later date?
Why don’t you just take out all the other stuff in there too that might be offensive to someone. Take out fire because you could use it to set a cross on fire in your levels.
Better take out tools to make crosses… better take out everything and delay the game over 9000 years…
Sorry, I’m getting carried away.
The point is, 0-day patch is perfect. If you don’t got internet, WHY THE HECK WOULD YOU BUY THE GAME!!! Why make a level if NOBODY can see it! The game is about “play create and share” you can’t share without internet. So don’t even bother getting the game, or get internet or something.
This is just ridiculous…
But hey, on the bright side.
My box was coming in on the 21st so I could send in my PS3 to get it repaired…
NOW I WILL HAVE TIME TO SEND IT IN!!!
SCEA Blog says that game should be out on the 27th which is the week after the week it was SUPPOSED to come out (on a Monday) which is actually better, I wanna start off the week, not on a Tuesday… BUT WE WERE SO CLOSE!!!
Ugh… oh well… fucking song…
I’m not hatin’ on the game, I just think that those of us who are not offended by such trivialities as quotations from religious texts in song lyrics should be able to pick up our copies of the game on time.
Wow!
I work at Game Stop in Italy and I was wondering why 16 people canceled their pre-order! Now I know why! At least 2 people call every hour to cancel the pre-order.
Will there still be a LBP + Ps3 bundle?
For everyone who’s not buying this game because of Sony’s and MM’s actions in minimizing as much future damage as possible by being responsible and doing the recall now and not a week into sales, good riddance. We really don’t need anymore jerks in the cesspool gaming communities as it is, and if LBP is free of narrow minded, childish, immature and hatred-filled individuals such as yourselves, the better. I’m not thrilled about the delay either, but the comments here and on the other news sites are downright disgusting. This sort of reaction is exactly why the media keeps portraying gamers in such a bad light.
I just can’t understand the delay.
If there is really a funny line in the song… let it be in there…
if people get offended… because they have some sort of wacky believe, let them be offended
btw, I’m atheïst… I can’t believe in god or any other thing that could rule the world, so i won’t get offended… ATHEÏSM FTW
I hope the release date is still the same in belgium :p
going to mail the store i orderd at…
This is sickening. It is mind blowing that Sony would do something this drastic and shortsighted over an amazingly petty religious complaint. (A couple phrases that were *mentioned* in the Qur’an? My god) I don’t see Jewish people up in arms because you have star shaped objects in LBP, or gay people complaining about the rainbows, or English people angry about your portrayal of medieval English royalty…
I’m sorry that Sony did this to you MM, but I have to say I’m really disappointed that you guys didn’t even try to put up a fight (From what you’ve told us). The patch at launch is *MORE* then adequate, a mass recall and re-print is extremely overboard and insulting. At first I was sad about the delay, but now that I know the cause behind it, it makes it much, much worse.
I’ll still get the game, but I’ll have to re-think my purchases from Sony in the future.
Score: Freedom of Expression: 0 – Fearful Censoring: 1
It’s been suggested that Sony is taking advantage the patch to “catch” the retailers who sold early copies. If they ask every retailer to return all their disks, and they know how many their bought, then any retailer that has sold some of them will come up short. That might be a bit paranoid, but there’s definately something weird here. Even Sony would have trouble printing new masters and doing another full Blu-Ray production run in 1 extra week.
(By the way, still support you guys at MM, lots of love and I’m sure it’s hard for you guys, we appreciate all your work to get LBP up and running.)
Well, I’m sorry for possibly contributing to this site’s downtime (by posting a link to this page on about 20 different sites with my complaints about the delay and encouraging others to complain). Nevertheless, I’m extremely disappointed. I don’t really care about the delay actually. If it were delayed for actual quality reasons, then fine. But it wasn’t. I care about principle, about not being afraid of religious zealots, about common sense. MM, I hope you have read my posts. Perhaps you had no choice but to capitulate, but I’d rather shut my business my down than ever do what you’ve allowed to happen. You clearly supported this action, and this is unforgivable.
The song in question is “Tapha Niang” from the 2006 album “Boulevard de l’Independance” by Grammy award-winning Malian kora player Toumani Diabaté.
Whoever the hell complained about this had 2 years to do so. Theres no excuse to complain now.
I’m really gutted for you guys.
Sorry.
I’m sorry about all this. I REALLY wanted that game next week. I have the money saved since three weeks ago and I want to play it SO MUCH. And I know that you MM guys wanted it released soon as well.
But I’m reading that the next releasing date could be november 14th?
That’s a lot of time!
I can’t understand this. I try, really. And I want to be respectful… But I’m wondering what would happen if these lyrics were offensive to some catholic people… Would you change it too?
I hope you find a way and try that the delay is SHORT. We all really want this game.
Thanks guys, really, for making it only 6 days. I appreciate all the hard effort you put into this game. I can’t wait till the 27th now. I already had everything marked down on my calendar…
. But, seriously, thanks! I look forward to Playing, creating, and sharing very soon!
PEACE!
Thanks for your genuine message on your site. I know that this must be a hard time for you guys, especially after all the hard work you have done to produce such an amazing game.
Rest assured that LBP will be the mega success it is meant to be. I have pre-ordered your game for ages, and I can’t wait to have everyone in my family, and my friends, have fun with sackboy
1 week more isn’t going to kill me, might have some time to get to that warhawk rank
You have the support of the whole playstation family! Good luck! And congrats for making such an amazing game.
What happen if you get one copy of the unpatched version? I live in Argentina and have no doubt that the games retailer are already selling the unpatched version of the game.
The Disc wont work? Do I get banned or something like that??? Please give some info about this?
also, i didnt make it into the beta, so itd be awesome for me and everyone else if you guys could make a demo/open beta for all of us. again, just a suggestion…
IT IS IRONIC THAT A COMPANY THAT IS EMPHASIZING CREATIVITY WOULD THINK SUCH A RESPONSE (FORCED CENSORSHIP) WOULD BE APPROPRIATE. SHAME ON YOU!!!
I have to say, this is one of the most insulting and ludicrous things I have encountered in quite some time. There is a big difference between being deliberately offensive and abusive and simply stumbling across somebodies sensitivity. Christian values are rutinely assulted and game after game is released with the most vile and disgusting of words, images and ideas and yet they continue to be released. (on time I might add) The fact that I do not have at the very least the option of getting my pre-ordered copy of LBP on time is absolutely unacceptable. I have listened to the song on napster and it’s quite a cool tune. The world better stop acting like we’re walking on ice. Every time we cower down to the petty complaints of overly sensitive people we continue to oppress ourselves further.
This whole situation is very upsetting fro a variety of reasons. But what really bothers me is video game companies have been releasing unfinished games to customers, then relying on patches to fix them for years. None of them have ever been concerned about the unconnected consumer who bought a defective game and is not able to patch it or return the game for a refund.
But all of the sudden this minor issue occurs and they shift into high gear to get the game recalled. It’s baffling that one person, who was really not even that offended, can cause the rest of us to suffer.
Furthermore, by doing a recall they bring more negative attention to the problem than a simple day 0 patch would have!
You guys should consider dropping the world music from your game and selecting hard, urban rap with lyrics about “bitches and hos” with an occasional “Goddamn”. No one has recalled a game for being offensive with those things, but two isolated sentences in Somalian — sentences that could be said in regular conversation, albeit strange conversation — is considered offensive and is enough for a multi-million dollar recall? Screw that!
I am VERY excited to get the game, but this REALLY puts a damper on things. Bending to a tiny fraction of the populace’s concerns to COMPLETELY INCONVENIENCE the rest of us? That’s utter crap. I’m not being insensitive — I’m being realistic. To make the concerns of a tiny minority more important than the majority (remember, we are paying money for this game) is ludicrous and a poor business decision.
If Sony wants to make things right for the rest of us, how about some free LBP content or dropping the price a bit? These $60 games are starting to take its toll on my wallet.
Are you kidding me? You guys are crazy! Its one frikkin week, who cares. This world has become so impatient.
Two people early on in this blog have it pretty much covered off:
“Unbelievable. Did you know that you can make music in this game? Did you know that you can make wooden cut-outs of Muhammed in this game?”
“I feel like i just got punched in the nuts by Sackboy”
QFT!!!

I love littlebigplanet ^^.
Sorry for my englich i am French ^^.
Peace Love and Sackboy ^^.
It’s a shame that the game was delayed, but I do understand Sony’s reason for recalling the game discs. If only this was discovered much earlier
Anyway I hope that this delay won’t affect the sales of LBP and that it will still sell millions
PS: so will there be any upcoming patch for those who already has the game? It seems like many stores have already started selling them.
What will happen to all the disks that are at retailers?
Are they going to get shipped back to Sony?
That is going to create a lot of extra pollution.
And what about all the wasted materials that was used to make the disks?
So Sony are going to pollute and waste limited resources to not offend anyone?
I find that wary offensive.
As a Muslim you have my strong support MM. I’m sorry for you that this has happened.
Chins up guys.
Hi media molecule, I work for blockbusters, have been excited about LBP for a while, even though im only 2 months into owning my PS3, though preorder demand hasnt been massive at my store for LBP, we do have some, heck most of our customer base wants games with guns, rappers, space mariner or footballs, LBP was one ive had lengthy discussions with regulars about and one such regular made me read up more on the title, and made me be interested, as a fan of homebrew level design on PC going back to the original doom the idea of level design outside of the genre of FPS, Strategy or RPG is very appealing. I agree the offensive material could have landed sony in later trouble and is better to comply with the minority esp as that minority is the somewhat untolerant Islamic community, which can overreact but is still a group with a right to be respected. The problem seems to be lack of concrete info on when we can all tell our presale customers when LBP is expected in store, im good ive got 4 ps3 games on the go at the momment, but im no worried LBP has pushed into the busy november, and i have Segas Valkyria Chornicles preoreded, and 2 games in one day/fortnight is stretching it, so i may need to consider cancelling one, well the woes of the over crowded quarter 4,. Good luck Media Molecule, for a breath of fresh air in the mostly unisipired games industry LBP deserves success and has been marred by misfortune many idiots will spin into bad press, if its only a 2-3 week delay, we can all cope.
Hey Mm,
Sorry you’re getting all this hate, people like to vent in their comments. I understand where you guys are coming from, the lyrics are “highly” offensive to these people and you want this game to be enjoyed by everyone. This game is something special and if the song were to stay in the game, I’m sure it would be all over the news and the game’s success would be hurt by all the controversy.
Also, the delay isn’t much of a delay anyway. Only about a week for people in North America. I’ve been waiting for this game since it was first announced and waiting one more week isn’t that bad. Wasn’t LBP supposed to release on the 31st anyway, it was moved up. And to be honest, I listened to the song and it wasn’t too great. Well, it was fine until the singing began…XD
I’m still psyched for this game and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Good luck with this Mm.

@”Never would happen to nintendo” BS remember Brawl? It was freaking delayed TWICE
@Canceling pre-orders go ahead and cancel, means you weren’t getting the game cause you really wanted it.
Honestly I don’t know why everyone is freaking getting mad about. You people don’t realize how much more serious Muslim people are about their religion. They are not a minority either, their religion is the 3rd biggest in the FREAKING WORLD. I didn’t play the Beta, I live in the U.S., all these people saying that they hate sony cause they delayed a game. YOU SHOULD BE PRAISING THEM, this shows that they care more about their customers than Microsoft would ever do! This shows the lengths they are willing to go to make sure that their customers are happy in the long run. Stop complaining, grin, and bare it, cause you are just whining like little kids.
Also release dates have NOT been stated yet.
Everyone who thinks Sony fails because of this needs to grow some freaking brains and patience, or get some friends and do something for a while…
Sincerly and without appology,
Omenofdoom
so what will happen to people who already got the game?
What, NOOOOO.
please can you like release a playable demo. I was so dissapointed when i heard about this
What’s really sad here is that a wonderful game about creation and the freedom to mold to your own imagination is being censored.. lol…
I really hope tons and tons of people don’t cancel their pre-orders. We need people to still be getting this game to make it great.
Mm you guys rock it’s sad Sony would not let this be fixed with your patch.
If you could open up a new beta or give us a demo to tied us all over I’m sure people would be great full.
Mm keep working hard and make this the best game ever!
27th for the good ‘ol US of A. Not too long of a wait.
Sony is not doing what ‘is right’. Sony is acting cowardly.
The song in question is two years old, it is acclaimed, and no one objected to it until now. This is pandering to an assumed fear that some Muslim somewhere just might be offended.
There is no right in this world not to be offended. And I am very, very offended.
I am deeply offended that Sony is taking the role of a Dhimmi, a subhuman subject of Islam in pandering to the fear of offending someone because of a two-year old song.
I am deeply offended that fear of one specific religion is increasingly controlling world culture, and with it my options, choices, and access to things that matter to me.
I am angry not that LittleBigPlanet was delayed, but the reason for that delay. I am angry and offended that fear of offending the believers of some fairytale is slowly eroding western culture.
I am no Dhimmi. I find pandering to any arbitrary belief disgusting. And I am deeply offended at the reason for this delay, because the reason is cowardice and false ‘respect’ for fairy stories.
I despise SONY for this.
And frankly, everyone here should too.
I am disgusted in the children that raised this complaint.
An apology and mandatory patch wouldn’t have sufficed? It’s clear that this has angered more fans than anyone else. Ah well, a week late isn’t so bad. Would be nice to get the beta running on the 21st though… to quench our thirst?
I’m looking forward to the game as much as everyone (I even left the beta running until Wednesday so I could squeeze a few extra days out of it) but Sony is doing the safe thing here. Just look at the riots and death threats that went flying in the Danish cartoon fiasco when muslims were offended. Although this slight slip is not nearly of the same scale, it would be irresponsible to even risk a backlash like that.
Just think what you would all be saying if they released the game knowing full-well that it could offend someone, and then MM staff started getting threatened.
Also, the phrases in question aren’t exactly in the spirit of LittleBigPlanet, so even discounting the religious side of things, they’re still not appropriate for the game.
A delay of a week or two isn’t the end of the world. I’d rather wait than have to read all the bad press that would be generated if they didn’t do a recall.
I think its pathetic that so many people are blowing this out of proportion, i commend MM and Sony for their decency and respect towards a particular religious group, and the selfishness shown here and on other forums is disgusting. Delays happen, the reasons(in this case)may seem insignificant to you, but they have made a creative decision and fans should stick by them.
To those saying “you dont hear christians complaining when….”, ask yourself how many films, games and books (could name a dozen off the top of my head) which portray Muslims in a negative light and nothing is said about those.
MM i wish you all the success in the world for producing such an innovative, addicting and brilliant game.
darn
Throw us some love in the meantime!! EXTEND THE BETA!! :]
Listen MM, I am a little peeved about this (My birthday is on 22) but I am not canceling my pre order and I still support you all the way, don’t let these guys who tell you should fail ’cause of this I know you have worked night and day to finish this game and you had no choice. PS: If you reopen the beta, could I have a key? If not I understand.
I can’t believe all the “you failed” and “I cancel my pre-order” comments I’ve read here! Who would have ever thought of something like this happening because of a song? The artist is a Grammy-award winner and a muslim himself. You can buy the song everywhere. I listened to it and it’s nice. So you really can’t blame Mm for these unfortunate events!
I would rather blame Sony for refusing the patch (would have caused no delay, the “issue” would have been corrected and nobody would have really cared) and choosing the economically and ecologically stupid solution of trashing all the existing BDs and printing new ones (causes a delay and a big uproar).
It’s just sad to see all this happening. It’s such an awesome game!! I loved playing the beta and I can hardly wait for the final version.
Hang in there Mm!
It must be very dissapointing for you. Here are a lot of fans looking forward to LBP, no matter what happens next!
I have to ask, According to “Youtube” the following link is the song that has “Little Big Planet” delayed…. Can anyone confirm if this is actually the case, and if so what is so offensive about the song in question?
**If you are a follower of Muslim Beliefs, you may not want to listen to this song so viewer discretion is advised!**
NB. However I am struggling to find what is offensive about the song
http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=N5cepFETeDM
Wait… but the game hasn’t even come out for me in America… Is it gonna be delayed there too?
I just hope that you compensate this delay with some free bonus content…
Do you think it would be in bad taste to make an “Arabian Nights” level?
Well… although I am aggravated, I am still really hyped about this game.
To all of you guys at MM, I’m so, so sorry that what seemed to be the perfect release of the game you spilt so much blood and tears over has fallen so hard at the last hurdle. It must be difficult seeing the project you put so much effort into getting so close to release.
Still, it will pull LBP through as a stronger game when it comes out on the other side of all of this. The fact that the site was brought down with so many fans thronging to share their condolences shows just how popular the game will be, and I’m sure everyone else agrees that we share your pain, but will also your joy when it is released. We’re in this together through thick and thin.
Keep smiling!
It is a given that, as a result of freedom of speech, someone somewhere is going to be offended about something. When you start pandering to the complaints of a vocal minority, that’s no longer freedom of speech. I personally find many things offensive in published media, but I don’t demand they are pulled. Shame on you, Sony, for giving in to demands just because they are from someone of the Muslim faith (which in itself is racist, as it implies that the Muslim taking offense is likely to be dangerous). Shame on you, Media Molecule, for not putting up a fuss, and even offering self-censorship to appease this small minority.
“I don’t agree with what you say, but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it”
I support the delay.
I think you guys should be thinking about giving your fan base something free for having to wait an extra week. We were greatly looking forward to the release & 3 days before it comes out you pull this. You should go forward with the release of the game or release free DLC that was previously supposed to be for sale. I really & truly hope this backfires on you because you have put a huge damper on many peoples week. I might just wait until I see this game in the used game rack, if I have to wait a week why not just wait 2.
Well I am hoping that if release dates differ between countries (Like they most probably will) that the spacesuit will be available much longer, since I am not going to be too pleased buying it day one and then not being able to get my Week 1 Goodies.
That sucks but what can we do?!
I wonder what Sony is gonna do with all the recalled copies of the game?
I’m going to GameStop first thing tomorrow morning and canceling my pre-paid order. I wouldn’t want a copy now even if it were free. Hope that doesn’t offend any religious sects.
This has made my whole family sad. We were eagerly anticipating the arrival of this game and have been for over a year. I completely understand why some people would cancel their preorders. Trust is earned, hard to keep, and easily lost. For some, Sony has gone too far and has lost their trust. I am glad that the delay seems to be a short one; but if it gets delayed again or if the release is so limitted that I cannot get my copy, I can pretty much guarantee that my trust will be lost for quite a long time.
How many Somali speeking Muslim’s could there possibly be that are going to be getting a release day copy of LBP and not be connected online? I highly doubt there are more of them than there are LBP fans eagerly awaiting the game becoming more and more leary and distrusting of Sony and their products as excuses are made for ever increasing delays.
