LittleBigLetters
We recieve lots of emails from people asking questions about Mm or LittleBigPlanet, specially around the time of events like CES. I try to respond to most but we are very busy making the game at the moment, so please forgive me for not getting to them all promptly! But here is an idea!! As lots of the letters cover similar topics (such as questions about features, working here at Mm, videos that they have seen etc) from now on we are going to use the power of the blog by having a monthly letter/response update. We will start it on the blog and the first update will come this week, once I have chosen some letters and received permission from the senders to publish them! So, please check back soon and there will be some more news from Mm xxx
I can imagine how much mail you guys get, as Little Big Planet is already immensly popular!
You know I’ve watched all the videos on the game that I can find, and I had a thought.. can objects tilt on a Z axis too?

One thing I’ve noticed… LittleBigPlanet seems to be in working order. But not so much as a demo has been released. ;~; Seriously, I want my PS3 to have an orgasm! What keeps pushing the date back?
Jason Myers | January 9th
I don’t mind the waiting,it will give me time to get money to get a Playstation 3.I really want this game so BAD!!

Cxplorer | January 9th

I noticed in one of the vids sackboy picked up a goldfish. First off, great job makin that fish look and move realistically! I’m still questioning the inclusion of water, but for now I’d like to know if there will be any other animals alive or dead in the game. I assume the goldfish was dead.

I can’t express in a few short sentences on how great this game looks, I first saw this game at GDC and since then I have been dieing to play around with this game. After I heard about the delay I was a little upset but delays are always a good thing. Do your best with this game! It will be a huge success.
PS when is the beta coming?
Casey | January 12th
Seriously I wish you guys the best and I know there are a lot of fans out there who are getting inspired by this game. I’m probably going to follow suit with a lot of people and buy a PS3 solely for this game! You guys rock as game developers for staying in-tune with your target audience! Cheers to you guys!

Will there ever be a PC version? If computers can handle buildings exploding into thousands of physically simulated pieces with Valve’s cinematic physics, surely they can handle LBP. Or is it a licensing issue?

i wnt this game soooooo badly!!!! I have been tracking it since september and seeing it develop is driving me nuts abuot it!OMG i am sooo excited(by the way will thier be competitive, like beetween player competition game modes within the game?)

Little big planet is going to be big, You guys did a great job on making this, just wondering why you guys pushed the game back until October. Would really appreciate a response from someone that is part on making the game, Thanks, Guy
Guy Graves | January 12th
Game is lookin’ great, guys. Keep up the good work and don’t let the executives cramp your creativity when you’re under the gun with deadlines, and such. You push that game back as much as you need to.

I know aspects of competition have already been shown, such as collecting the most amount of items in a level, whilst still being co-operative.
However, i was hoping you could include game modes such as a pure race to the finish (would be even better with a 2 vs 2 competive mode). For example, the first pair to reach the end first/collect most items wins, which would be extremely fun.
There could be a ranking for the best teamwork pairs in the world. For example if you beat a higher ranked pair than yourself, your ranking could go up(could be based on ranking points, by taking points off another player if you win(winner 1000pts->1015pts, loser 1000->985pts). Obviously, a low ranked team beating a high ranked team would steal more points. This would also allow players of the same skill level to play with each other.
I’m very exited about the potential of this game. Keep up the great work.

LittleBigPlant is looking awesome! I cannot compliment you enough on this completely original game! You guys must really enjoy what you do. I’ve been watching this game since I saw it at GDC last year!
Good luck with the game, I really hope I can get onto the beta

Given that the most telling question is “When’s the Beta/Demo/PSN release?”, I hope to see it answered.
I’d also like to know the plans for voice chat for the game. Is it in? Is it open-mic?
The thing I’m most hoping for, though, is the option to record a play of a level. Not so much to compare speed runs, but the idea of creating sets and props, before acting out a little sackboy theatre, with you and your friends providing the voice acting, is a tantalising one.
Make it happen, Mm. Pretty please.

Will it be possible to add our own custom sound tracks to levels off our PS3 hardrive, as music can be an important factor for creating right atmosphere in a level.
Lee | January 15th
Most original game I’ve seen in the past decade. Bought a PS3 for it, I can’t wait

First off, CONGRATULATIONS to the entire team at Media Molecule you guys are doing an incredible job! I hadn’t heard of Litle Big Planet until I caught a rerun of spikes VGA2 and saw the LBP “world premier” video spot. They said it was a game but I didn’t beleive it. I was so taken by the stunning high def graphics I thought to myself there is NO WAY this could be a playable game, that and the complete abscence of anything that I would have recognized as a video game element. no high score in the corner, no radar, nothing to indicate how many lives I had left. I was clueless, I thought it was just a really cute and creative video clip someone VERY talented had put together. but my curiosity was overwhelming, so off to the internet to find out more. Within minutes I was on the Mm site watching the GDC demo, my jaw dropped and my eyes lit up. I was glued to my monitor almost in a panic, I was laughing and cheering, my whole body flooded with excitement. IT WAS TRUE, THIS WAS A REAL GAME! And not just any game, you folks at Mm are creating something truely fantastic and unique. I knew right away that this game will be a HUGE, HUGE SUCCESS. I will be amazed if LBP doesn’t put the popularity of other games like guitar hero and rockband TO SHAME!! Not only am I in love with the graphics and gameplay, I love the direction you have taken with the soundtrack. After checking out a few videos from “The Go! Team” on YouTube, it’s no wonder they earned themselves a spot in LBP. Their music, their videos, their whole style is just bursting with fun and creativity. I hope there will be a seperate cd release of the entire LBP soundtrack. (by the way, whats that great funky little tune at the end of the GDC demo when showcasing the online community gameplay?) I was basically raised on video games starting from my colecovision back when I was just 5 or 6 years old, through all the systems of 8, 16, 32, and 64 bit up to my xbox (the old one) I started collecting console systems a few years back to relive fond memories and build new ones. There must be close to 20 different systems here (I can never quite remember exactly), and hundreds and hundreds of games. I was never the best gamer, but video games have been and still are a big part of my life. And I have to tell you with no exaggeration that I have NEVER been so excited for a video game in all my years. I knew I wanted a PS3, but there had to be a game that I wanted soooo bad i’d be willing to shell out the $500 for it. I’m not the first and I definately won’t be the last to say Little Big Planet is that game. This is just the beginning for Media molecule, I’m sure we’ll see more great things from you in the future. But for now, keep up the good work with LBP and don’t let it out until it’s good n ready! It will be well worth the wait. Again congratulations, my hat goes off to you all.

I’m a 17years Old french and I dream to meet your team one day. If only I can work on a team like this as a character designer…I can’t wait for a beta demo. Every day when I wake up, I run on the computer and search some news on LBP. Your work is going to make me a real geek =)
Congratulations!

I have a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach, and it’s all your fault ;o) How am I going to manage to wait till September (or beyond) without my head exploding from all the ideas I have for creating stuff? I think all new trailers of the game should be banned in the interests of my health and sanity!
Seriously though, with every new piece of info that seeps out and every new feature demonstrated online I become more convinced that LBP is going to change the face of gaming forever, why just play when you can create and share too eh? :oD

I completly understand that you are a very busy group of people, and i pray that you will read this letter and please respond but if you can not i understand tht oyu are very busy people, and i would like this message to mean somthing to the people at Mm i love your game so much and i am 13, i have been following this game since the first time i saw it. But i would like to say that the people at Mm are my inspiration because oyu started a game called rag doll kung foo with only a little people and now you are creating one of the best games i have ever seen. I wish tha i could just see Mm up close and in person so much that you dont evan understand. But i respect you at Mm so much and i want you to know that you have a great company (and a great game) i want to thank you for being able to at least get my point across!
but everyday i am doodling ideas and things, and levels that when i get littlebigplanet i will make asap and those things i am planning makeing are only from the parts that you have already shown. I think that your company should go out there and try things, like leve designs an costumes because if you try people will agree to do it because Mm is brilliant! you should never be discouraged from this game NEVER what you have is a master piece and never stop beliving that………….thank you for letting me stop and tell you what i think about Mm and littlebigplanet………………This is why you and the people at Mm are y insperation, and i have to say OMG I LOVE YOU!……..~Bryan H. (one of your biggest fans that looks up to you :)~
