We’re Still Alive!

Sorry for the lack of updates, but we’ve been having a hectic time here at Mm Towers. Having finally sobered up after the Surrey Business Awards we’ve been slaving away pushing LittleBigPlanet toward the Alpha stage of its development cycle. Basically this means all the cool stuff we said will be in there should be playable, even if it isn’t pretty enough to release. The game seems to change every day at the moment and it is very exciting to be able to sit down and play what feels more and more like a complete experience.

One of the things that keep us sane during these stressful times is to drink maintain personal projects. Some people draw, some write music. Some people, like Victor one of our ace level designers, unwind by making even more games. Games like the awesome Blacklist:

He’s been working on it for about a year, and plans to release it on deadtoast.com soon. Check it out!

we iz winnerz!

surrey business award logo  Somehow this got lost amongst all the drinking working that went on at the end of last week, but MM won the ‘creative industries award’ at the 2007/8 Surrey Business Awards! Hurrah! Many thanks to the judges who gave us this nice surprise, and the organizers of the event for what turned out to be a most enjoyable evening/night/morning :) It provided us with the first bit of silverware for our trophy cabinet… :)

sackboy vs silvia

to answer the commenters, silvia is a German lady who lives in France, and as far as we can tell a knitwear genius who created the sackboy entirely based on what she’d seen online of our game! we don’t have a pattern (yet?!) and we haven’t even seen the physical toy ourselves - so far only those two pics, sent by the magic of the interweb all the way from La Belle France. We all want one too!

Sackboy. Fo’ REAL.

We’re all totally in love with our little Sackboy character, we’ve spent a couple years watching him run, jump and slap his way though dozens of levels, and the little chap has so much personality we could almost believe he’s real.

So our collective jaws hit the floor when we saw what one of our artists MOTHERS had made, Silvia’s actually made Sackboy, for real, in all his knitted and stitched glory! It’s so good we wondered if we’d hired the right member of the family to work here! (Not really, her son is making artwork for the game that will blow you away) but we can certainly see where he gets his talent from..

Real Sackboy!

So adorable. It makes me want to hug him so tightly that his zip bursts and his button eyes pop out. But I won’t.

And here he is in the Chinese dragon costume:

Just in time to wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year!

Anyone else got anything to show?! ;)
