It’s nearly here, the cheese we’ve all been waiting for! On Monday 30th, Leerdammer will update LittleBigPlanet to 1.21, and deliver Online Create, Save and Networking improvements, increased profile space, and and loads of awesome enhancements and new features! All for free I might add.

Head over to LittleBigPlanet.com for the full details, and a handy walkthrough video explaining all the new features and how to use them.

Tonight we are celebrating with a cheese feast, we’ve ordered big chunks of all the cheese patches to date, and will be scoffing them down with some nice biscuits and wine, we strongly suggest you do the same thing. Happy Leerdammer!

Go and turn on your Playstation and fire up LittleBigPlanet, there is a gift for you - a chunky slice of delicious Cornish Yarg.

Some new features, and how to find them

Music Player
The endless humming noise in creator mode getting you down? Waiting around in your Pod for friends to join? Now you can browse your Playstation music collection and play some funky tunes to inspire you or keep you amused. Access the Music Player options from the settings menu.

Improved decoration mode
When in a level, or create mode, hover a sticker over Sackboy, and the camera will zoom in. You can now use the R1 and L1 buttons to rotate Sackboy, giving you a much higher degree of control over your custom costume creation!

Profile settings
We’ve added some settings to help clear through the clutter – if you hit the Start button, and go to settings, you’ll see a new Profile Settings menu, where you can choose whether or not to automatically collect community objects and photos.

There’s a whole bunch of more additions and changes that you’ll see as you play around in LittleBigPlanet, check this list to see them all, and also check this thread over on the Official EU Playstation Boards.

yaaaaarg_smallCornish Yarg – a moist cheese from Cornwall with a fresh, creamy taste, and the name of the next content patch to hit the LittleBigPlanet.

Whilst we can’t promise it will definitely make it for the 16th, Yarg, aka 1.12, will be out either then or shortly afterwards, and contains a mixture of bug fixes and new features, such as…

  • A new music player which lets players choose their own music from the XMB to play during create mode and in their Pod

  • Improved decoration mode makes it easier to customise your Sackboy

  • Option to delete all (unhearted) community objects and photos

  • Option to select whether to automatically collect community prizes and photos or not

  • A number of improvements have been made to make profiles more robust and to recover from certain errors

  • Support for Japanese and Korean IME for text chat.

  • Emitter prediction has been improved (this should help fast-moving projectiles e.g. in MGS levels)

  • The player proximity switch now has a ‘require all’ option in it

  • An option has been added to cycle between various level information when viewing community levels on the earth

  • Various LittleBigStore improvements

Shortly after the Cornish Yarg patch, we’ll be releasing another free update, which will be provisionally available on the Playstation Store on the 23rd, and contains a set of functions and creator tools to help you tweak levels and invent new fun things for us to play! The aptly named Creator Pack 1 includes the following useful things…

  • Infinite lives checkpoint

  • Visibility tweak option on certain joint objects (to hide these in Play mode)

  • Global settings object (to trigger lighting changes)

  • Tetherless jetpack

  • Angle range proximity switch (additional functionality on proximity and magnetic key switches)

So hold on tight folks, only one more week to wait… Well, keep your fingers crossed that something nasty and unexpected doesn’t get in the way!

Hello everyone, we have some very exciting news and I can’t wait to tell you all about it!

My apologies for the delay, we have been working very hard for the last few months to get our new patch codenamed Cornish Yarg ready for release, and trust us on this…it’s been epic! There are some very exciting new features that we can’t wait to get out to everyone, including:

  • A super awesome set of 5 new tutorials in “Create Pack 1”! These tutorials unlock some lovely new creative tools to play about with and help you make even cooler levels. The new tools are as follows:
    • Infinite lives checkpoint
    • Visibility tweak option on certain joint objects (to hide these in Play mode)
    • Global settings object (to trigger lighting changes)
    • Tetherless jetpack
    • Angle range proximity switch (additional functionality on proximity and magnetic key switches)
  • IME text chat support for Korean and Japanese
  • Some nifty profile managing tools and menus for better profile management when receiving community objects and photos.
  • A very sleek music player which is available to use while in create mode, meaning you can listen to your own MP3s while you make!
  • Advanced Sackboy customisation mode to help you decorate all those hard to reach places
  • Anton’s sweated blood to try to fix the level loading issues some of you may have experienced, so if you have a broken level, why not give it another go?

So…we have just entered the final stages of testing where we’ll need to get the official stamp of approval before releasing it into the wild…so hold tight, it’ll be with everyone very soon.

More cheese?

Thinking Sackgirl

Hello all,

We have an update for you on some upcoming LBP patches!

Since returning from our much needed break we have been busy working on a mixture of things (fixes, some new & exciting stuff and the code clean up I mentioned a while back). You may know by now that we name each of our LittleBigProjects after cheeses! We are soon going to be adding a new feature to our website, ‘the cheese board’, where we’ll keep detailed information on all the various LBP cheeses, as they mature. That way you’ll have a good idea of what’s coming up. Until then a written update will need to do!!

Edam contains a set of bug fixes and is currently in testing. We are hoping for this to be out into the world by mid February (fingers crossed). Specifically the fixes are:

  • Failed to save profile’ message not being displayed when a users profile is full.
  • Object Capture Bug: switch connectors being deleted when an object is captured.
  • Failed to load profile issue :where the user is thrown out to the XMB due to a texture that is not   registered in their profile being present in their pod.
  • Text not displaying in the text chat window.
  • Slow rewind due to moderation check.
  • Save file corruption which caused the game to crash when placing any object in an emitter in any level.

Cornish Yarg contains many fabulous things, most excitingly new creative abilities – woo!! This will be a big delivery and so we want to make sure that it gets to you without any bugs and so we are planning very extensive testing which may involve some of you guys (more details out soon). This has only just started the testing process which usually takes 6-8 weeks minimum. Further announcements will be made in February.

Leerdammer: This delivery will really help people who are experiencing issues with lagging/packet loss. This improvement is still in development, which means it will be out after Cornish yarg but we aren’t sure when, rest assure Amy is hard at work. Announcements will be made throughout feb.

Please check our FAQ, Anton will be updating it on Friday with some answers to some of the most common questions!

Emmental Update 1.06 – Notes

2008December 18th

update 1.06

Usually the little updates are pretty boring, but this one is all to do with moderation so we thought you might like some more details about what you will find in 1.06 (Emmental):

The moderation rules have been refined.

If you’re prevented from doing something, you’ll now be told why on the spot.

You can edit moderated levels on your moon so you can fix the problem.

You can read the moderation notifications by checking your messages page in the start menu

I’ve got the notes for 1.07 (Roqueforte) in front of me at the moment and that is a little more exciting. More news soon(-ish)!
