It’s no secret that we like stickers here at Mm, and when we discovered Tom’s laptop was in dire need of some more stickering, we reached out to our fans via twitter. Little did we know that we would be sent the motherload.
Kevin Derken, who has chosen to be known as klav9 in the world of internets, sent us a ‘selection’ of various stickers he made for a gallery installation last August, isometric pixely chaps based on famous characters from movies, games and that weird and wonderful place: reality.
The truly awesome stickers were distributed throughout the office; personally I ended up with an Anchorman set, a Ghostbuster, and some members of Team Zissou.
Other things we got sent after talking loudly on twitter: lots of teabags!
Thank you Mm friends, you really are the best people ever!
Media Molecule’s very own John Connor (AKA Luke Petre) has struck a blow for the resistance and defied Skynet, by having the metal plates removed from his leg. The plates (which made him part man, part machine, all cop, wait that’s another movie) were put in place following an encounter with an out of control motorbike; presumably a motorbike escaping a giant truck driven by a T-1000, sent through time to destroy someone or other.
He’s home at the moment recovering and making gory photo montages like the one above and not working on LittleBigPlanet. All of us at Mm would like to wish him a speedy recovery, our tools need you Luke!
We were on the Telly last night, on Dom Joly’s Made in Britain, and I’m sure each and every one of you were glued to the sofa too see it. For those who missed it because of an important reason – such as being in the pub for instance – here’s the bit about us, handily uploaded to YouTube and embedded here, oh isn’t the internet marvelous?

At the start of last week we received an email from a very proud father. His Son Ben had been tasked with decorating his house as part of a town Gala in Aberlady, East Lothian. He chose to decorate his house LittleBigPlanet style – check it out!
Ben will be crowned for his creative efforts, we should probably get him to come and decorate our office too, we love bunting!
If you have been chosen, or hope to be chosen (see below) to participate in the forthcoming beta test of Online Create Mode, you MUST change your PSN profile so that you can receive communications from Sony. We currently have a whole bunch of people on the list that we have chosen to join the beta test who have not opted in. If this is you, you will be unable to participate, as you will not receive your email!
To check if you have opted in:
On your PS3, go to the account management section under the Playstation Network menu option
Choose Account Information
Scroll down to Notification Preferences
Make sure both of the boxes in this menu have been checked
Important note: This only applies to people who have been chosen from the selected community sites to join in (you should already know who you are) and to regulars of the LittleBigWorkshop, who have not yet been informed but hope to be chosen. It is however a good idea to have these boxes ticked if you want to join any kind of Sony based beta tests in the future!
Coming this Thursday to the PSN Store, a set of costumes, stickers and sound effects based on Team ICO’s games; Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus. Yesterday we showed off the costumes for both Ico and Yorda, which makes today the turn of Shadow of the Colossus, and the costumes of Wander, and two of the colossi Gaius and Quadratus…
Quadratus
Let’s also take a little look at the game that has inspired these costumes, one which we all love here, well except Danny actually, he’s a hater and will be punished accordingly. Oh no, wait a second, he’s changing his story, he just hasn’t played it, and so will be sent home with a copy this evening instead. That’s how we roll.
Shadow of the Colossus
Shadow of the Colossus is a game about a young man named Wander who travels across a vast expanse on horseback so he may battle sixteen beings known as colossi, in order to restore the life of a girl named Mono.
Wander travels on his horse, Agro, carrying Mono across a long bridge into the centre of the forbidden lands, where he comes to a shrine. It is here that Wander meets with a disembodied entity known as Dormin. Wander requests that Dormin returns Mono’s soul to her body, which the entity explains can be done if Wander destroys all sixteen colossi who roam various parts of this land, but warns him that this may also come with a great price.
Using a magical blade, stolen earlier from the land’s guardian, Wander sets about locating these colossi, and destroying them, with each ones demise binging him closer to his goal, but changing his physical appearance for the worse.
We’re going to be on TV this week, yay! We’re featured as part of this week’s episode of Made in Britain, a series in which mister Dom Joly tries to find out what is actually made in Britain.
In this episode, the 5th in the series, Dom will try to replace his Japanese gadgetry with British products, and pays a visit to our office to find out about the British Videogames industry. Here, watch this preview clip, in which he calls us all stoned hippies, thanks Dom!
The episode will be aired on UKTV at 20:00 on Friday 12th June, which we’re told is channel 534 on Sky and 206 on Virgin.
[UPDATE]
Huzzah! The episode is now in the land of the internets and available to view on YouTube.
This Thursday on the store there will be a set of costumes, stickers and sound effects, made in homage to Team ICO’s classic and widely loved Playstation games Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus. Today we take a look at one half of that combination, and two of the costumes – Ico and Yorda.
Ico
Directed by Fumito Ueda, also the director of the game’s spiritual successor, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico was designed to be a minimalist game based around a ‘boy meets girl’ concept.
The story focuses on a young boy named Ico, who is born with Horns – a bad omen to the people of his village. Ico’s horns lead him to become locked away in an abandoned fortress, and it is here, whilst exploring, that he meets Yorda – the daughter of the castle’s queen. Together they try to flee the castle, with Ico protecting Yorda from the shadow-like creatures that attempt to capture her, and helping her across various obstacles which she cannot traverse alone.
Ico and Yorda hold hands during their adventure, and communicate without words, as they do not speak the same language.
When the UK LittleBigPlanet YouTube channel launched back in April, it came in a hand with a competition that would see one lucky winner being sent on a round the world trip, courtesy of uncle Sony, and with a pocket full of cash too. The contest was to create a level in which Sackboy would travel to a world famous destination, and the winner was announced today…
Congratulations to denzilstube87, who sent Sackboy to Paris for one last job. Check out the video of his level below, and wish him a good trip. Bon voyage, don’t forget to send us a postcard!
Whilst this contest was for UK residents only, more contests are expected to pop up for other regions sooner or later, so keep your eyes peeled for your chance to win win win!
The first episode of a new LittleBigPlanet podcast called Sackcast, is now available. In the episode, the guys discuss some community levels, ideas for their own levels, and answer a few questions from yours truly. Check it out below, oh and don’t forget to head over to their website too!
