The Sacktue of Liberty is out today, get!

Yes, that’s right – as announced at the start of the week, the Sacktue of Liberty costume is out on the PSN store today, for free!

Sacktue Of Liberty

It’s quite possibly the cutest way of celebrating the United States of America’s day of Independence, this July 4th!

And if the free content isn’t enough to keep you happy, don’t forget that the rather awesome Jon Burgerman Original Sticker Pack is still hot on the PSN Store with its funky collection of Burgerman sticker goodness.

Remember that PSN Stores update one by one around the world, east to west.
We’re in Europe where it’s just gone live, so you U.S folks normally have to wait a little longer for it to cross the ocean :)

Meet Arnold Drake

Arnold Drake is a Sackboy who lives in a little town called Clacton on Sea, in the UK. Arnold gets in to all sorts of mischief and keeps an online diary of his adventures. What’s he been up to lately?
Well, his uncle came to visit and Arnold showed him around the park, where they enjoyed a nice cup of tea together. Then they played golf and went skateboarding!

We’re absolutely loving Arnold’s blog!
Make sure you get over to www.arnolddrake.com regularly to read up on his latest adventures.

The Sacktue of Liberty

Last week we celebrated the Summer Solstice with the release of the Druid costume available for free, which we’re pleased to see many of you enjoyed.

To continue the celebrations, we’re marking this years Independence Day by releasing a Sacktue of Liberty costume, available once more for free!
Featuring the iconic crown and robe from the Statue of Liberty, the costume also includes the famous torch of enlightenment, complete with glowing flames of fabric.

The Sacktue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty (officially titled Liberty Enlightening the World) was a gift from France to the United States of America in 1886 to commemorate the centennial of the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence.
Sculpted by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, the 93m (305ft) high statue’s internal structure was interestingly enough engineered by Maurice Koechlin – none other than the designer of the Eiffel Tower.
It is now internationally recognised as a symbol of the United States of America, and a fitting choice to celebrate the United States of America’s day of Independence this July 4th.

Head over to the PSN Store this July 2nd to grab this limited-time costume in time for the big day.
And don’t forget that the Druid costume is still available this week, but for a limited time only, so make sure you download your Druid before Thursday; if only to secure yourself that awesome beard for your Sackboy.

Team ICO Pack – Shadow of the Colossus

Coming this Thursday to the PSN Store, a set of costumes, stickers and sound effects based on Team ICO’s games; Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus. Quadratus

Let’s also take a little look at the game that has inspired these costumes, one which we all love here, well except Danny actually, he’s a hater and will be punished accordingly. Oh no, wait a second, he’s changing his story, he just hasn’t played it, and so will be sent home with a copy this evening instead. That’s how we roll.

Shadow of the Colossus

Shadow of the Colossus is a game about a young man named Wander who travels across a vast expanse on horseback so he may battle sixteen beings known as colossi, in order to restore the life of a girl named Mono.

Wander travels on his horse, Agro, carrying Mono across a long bridge into the centre of the forbidden lands, where he comes to a shrine. It is here that Wander meets with a disembodied entity known as Dormin. Wander requests that Dormin returns Mono’s soul to her body, which the entity explains can be done if Wander destroys all sixteen colossi who roam various parts of this land, but warns him that this may also come with a great price.

Using a magical blade, stolen earlier from the land’s guardian, Wander sets about locating these colossi, and destroying them, with each ones demise binging him closer to his goal, but changing his physical appearance for the worse.

Team ICO Pack – Ico and Yorda

This Thursday on the store there will be a set of costumes, stickers and sound effects, made in homage to Team ICO’s classic and widely loved Playstation games Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus. Today we take a look at one half of that combination, and two of the costumes – Ico and Yorda.

01-ico-www

Ico

Directed by Fumito Ueda, also the director of the game’s spiritual successor, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico was designed to be a minimalist game based around a ‘boy meets girl’ concept.
The story focuses on a young boy named Ico, who is born with Horns – a bad omen to the people of his village. Ico’s horns lead him to become locked away in an abandoned fortress, and it is here, whilst exploring, that he meets Yorda – the daughter of the castle’s queen. Together they try to flee the castle, with Ico protecting Yorda from the shadow-like creatures that attempt to capture her, and helping her across various obstacles which she cannot traverse alone.

Ico and Yorda hold hands during their adventure, and communicate without words, as they do not speak the same language.

Come back tomorrow for a closer look at the other costumes from this pack, a set based on Ico’s sequel of sorts, Shadow of the Colossus.

Around the world in 80 Sackboys – Winner announced!

When the UK LittleBigPlanet YouTube channel launched back in April, it came in a hand with a competition that would see one lucky winner being sent on a round the world trip, courtesy of uncle Sony, and with a pocket full of cash too. The contest was to create a level in which Sackboy would travel to a world famous destination, and the winner was announced today…

Congratulations to denzilstube87, who sent Sackboy to Paris for one last job. Check out the video of his level below, and wish him a good trip. Bon voyage, don’t forget to send us a postcard!

Whilst this contest was for UK residents only, more contests are expected to pop up for other regions sooner or later, so keep your eyes peeled for your chance to win win win!

2000AD Costumes – Rogue Trooper

As we’ve already said oh so many times now, coming this Thursday to the PSN Store is a set of five zarjaz costumes for LittleBigPlanet based on characters from classic British sci-fi comic series 2000AD. Each day this week we’ve been taking a closer look at the characters behind the costumes, by copy pasting things from wikipedia and then editing them to make sense.

We’ve already revealed Judge Dredd, Judge Anderson, and Johnny Alpha and today we look at another iconic character, Rogue Trooper!

roguetrooper-hd

Rogue Trooper

Rogue is a G.I.or Genetic Infantryman – a genetically modified, blue-skinned, manufactured, elite soldier on Nu-Earth, where a perpetual war between the Norts and Southers is being fought. The war has seen all manner of chemical and biological weapons being used to crush the opposition, resulting in the poisoning of the planet. Troops of both sides must now live in enclosed cities and fight in protective gear.

Through genetic engineering, the Southers develop a race of superior warriors called the Genetic Infantry, soldiers who are immune to the deadly atmosphere of Nu-Earth. The Souther High Command deploy their secret weapon in an airborne assault, but a traitor betrays the secret of the G.I. to the Norts, and the soldiers are massacred.

Rogue, the only surviving G.I. goes AWOL in order to track down the Traitor General responsible for the massacre. Along the way he thwarts numerous Nort schemes, discovers and inadvertently destroys the only portion of Nu-Earth not contaminated by chemical weapons, and is betrayed by every female character he ever encounters.

Read more about Rogue Trooper.

The Rogue Trooper costume will be available as part of the 2000AD Costume Pack released this Thursday, 28th May, on the PSN Store. Come back tomorrow for the final costume reveal, and an interview with 2000AD creator, Pat Mills.
