Wow, Creators have been really blowing us away recently. We came in this morning and just spent all morning playing levels we've found over the weekend. Sentences like 'How did they do that??' and 'That looks amazing' and (the seemingly daily by Danny) 'That's honestly the best thing I've seen in LBP' have been common. So, without further ado, here's a small selection:
(Oh, and if you're having problems finding these then have a look through our Hearted Levels, our PSN is 'LittleXim')
Translated the title means 'Libits no Daibouken - Hidden Treasure in Ancient Monument' This immediately impressed us with it's Aztec Temple visuals (like magpies, we like shiny stuffs). The level is also built very cleanly, making good use of the grid to give it that blocky look and now and again adding broken bits to contrast. The gameplay is cute (fetching stars, spikey traps, etc) and satisfying, great fun for multiple players. The level is also huge and has a really great water effect near the end. There are a few little niggles, sometimes the z changing is fiddley (areas overly complex) but nothing major. Definately 5 Star material.
This is a level which you can play reversi game.
The final post today goes to a Japanese Creator who has made some levels that flummox us. Today we all played this level and marvelled at how it worked. I don’t think I really need to explain Othello (that’s what the internet is for) but this Creator has made an automated version for 2 players and it works. This one gets 5 Stars because it’s absolute genius. Play it already!
Although LPB has a certain 'look' it's great to see Creators creating their own style in LBP. This one uses the popular 'sihouette' look to create a flat look and then it's combined with a blocky, pixely look which makes it quite unique. In addition to that, the Creator has added pixelly text to tell the Players what to do (RUN, JUMP, GRAB, etc) which gives the level a really functional graphic feel. We would have included this level in todays update for its looks alone but it's also actually fun and well thought out. It's not a long level though so if you've got a spare 5 minutes then you should check this out. Since it's not very long and there are a few sticking points (see the video) we give this a 4 Star rating.
